Guild Wars 2 honors dearly departed MMO blogger Zach ‘Ravious’ Best with in-game quest

Last October, we were devastated to report that MMO blogger Zach “Ravious” Best had passed away at the young age of 36, taken by cancer. Veteran MMORPG players knew him for his prolific work on the MMO blog Kill Ten Rats, where he’d covered multiple titles in our genre, including the Guild Wars franchise.

And now the Guild Wars franchise has honored him. Tucked away in yesterday’s Guild Wars 2 update is a tribute to Ravious in the form of a hidden treasure hunt quest. We won’t spoil it, but here’s a hint: It fittingly involves rats.

ArenaNet’s Rubi Bayer confirmed the tribute on Reddit and said that the devs even used Best’s photo to model the NPC quest-giver accurately. “Some devs have been working on this in the background for a while,” she wrote. “Huge thanks to them. A lot of us had great respect and affection for Zach, and his passing was hard on us.”
