TERA launches on consoles tomorrow

The big day is almost upon us, as TERA will launch its console edition tomorrow, April 3rd, on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. En Masse said that both versions will go live as of midnight EDT, at which point you may download and jump into the MMO.

To prepare for the release of the hyped console edition, TERA is bringing its PS4 and Xbone servers down for maintenance today for a couple of hours.

If you’re a Twitch Prime member, you can secure several useful goodies for TERA’s console version right now. And if the console launch doesn’t excite you at all, what about the Godsfall content patch that’s coming in a couple of weeks?

1) The console version has had enough refunds on various promotions already to cause problems. This is in relation to the bait and switch that Gamer Alek refers to in the Founders Early Access Packs and Elite Status Perks.

To make up for the losses, EME made a P2W item (effectively buying game gold for real cash) available in the PC TERA store for a limited time without any prior announcement.

2) Console has lots of performance issues because they’ve effectively taken the PC build and placed a new Ui onto it. This has in no way addressed the fundamental issue that TERA requires very high processor IPCs and rebuilding for multi-core processors.

This is why classes/dungeons with very demanding particle effects haven’t been released yet.

3) Support: Crucial in getting any issue sorted. And there’s pretty much no information on who to go to for what issue in one place.

Add in the lack of staff because of how thinly spread they are, and it’s a recipe for disaster.

You could always technically buy gold from their store with real cash once they transitioned to f2p. All you had to do was check which direct purchase costume on the AH was going for the most at the time, purchase it with real money, and then sell it on the AH. And prior to the f2p transition you could purchase chrono-scrolls (one month subscription, like a WoW token) and sell it on the AH.

I wanted to try it out, but then I saw this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/TeraOnline/comments/87wi8j/psa_no_daily_emp_from_elite_sub_on_console/
They pulled a bait and switch on Elite status offering EMP (they said it would, only to change it). The mount in the $150 pack is also not account bound, even though it does not say so.
Their excuse? NOTHING is account bound in any founder packs.

Lol thankfully browsing the Reddit for the game saved me from making a $150 mistake. I mean seriously, even the title “Founder” is only claimable ONCE and on only one character. If that character is then deleted, so is the title……..

I am not buying into something that stinks of a cash grab. I did it for MHO and am not getting fooled again.

I feel like i’d need an Xbox One X to try and play this on consoles, I have the feeling like the performance just wouldn’t be there for the standard model from what I have heard from others.

Which is a shame, because i’ve never really played TERA, but I’ve always been curious to give it a shot. Maybe someday i’ll down it on my system and just see how it runs.

Part of me really wants to play this on console, but unless they remove all the pay-to-win from their cash shop I can’t bring myself to play as I know I’ll stop shortly after getting to endgame.

Lets be honest: you will probably stop well before the end game.

Maybe, I do have 4 endgame characters on PC so the leveling process isn’t too difficult but the looming rng gear grind definitely is a deterrent .
