We've achieved something.

The information dam seems to have broken with World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, and we are all about to be swept away in the flood. At a press event at the studio this week, Blizzard disclosed many more details about the upcoming expansion including its plans leading up to it.

The expansion beta should be starting soon. Blizzard said that the expansion “pre-patch” will hit the game a few weeks before Battle for Azeroth’s August 14th release. It’ll contain quests and scenarios leading up to the main expansion, including the Burning of Teldrassil and the Battle for Lordaeron.

As for allied races, each side will have six emissaries planned, although some of those races will be shared. Mag’har Orcs and Dark Iron Dwarves will be unlocked after going through the war campaign, with Kul Tiran Humans and Zandalari Trolls to be unlocked later in the expansion cycle. Blizzard said that it liked the pacing of Legion’s content rollout and will be using that as a template for Battle for Azeroth.

Blizzard wasn’t willing to talk about World of Warcraft Classic, other than to point out that it was no longer taking job applications for the team. If you want to reminisce about the old days, however, Ghostcrawler is still open to talking to fans about that!

Well I just hope that later in the expansion means later in the campaign and not after some content patches. I really want to make some druids.

Wait… wut?

Shared emissaries? Does this mean that some of the allied races will be dual faction?

No the shared emissaries are factions that you can earn rep with no matter your race. However, only one side can unlock them. Same way the current allied races work. Both sides can earn rep with the Highmountain Tauren and turn in their emissary quests, however only the horde can recruit them and use them as a race.

I’m mainly excited about dynamically generated islands. I’m really hoping it serves to break the monotony of endgame gear grind.

I’m looking forward to it. I rather liked Legion, not was much as Wrath but that was my favorite WoW exp pack to date and WoD was poor. Probably will play for a bit, leave, come back and play again, leave, etc. That’s my standard WoW cycle especially these days with friends all over the place game wise.

Well, I have to admit, Blizzard did a damn fine job on Legion. Nice to see a company able to turn things around after something like WoD.

i’m quietly and reservedly looking forward to spending a few weeks chomping on the BFA leveling content. doubt i’ll stick around beyond that but should be decent fun for a bit.
