Check out these jaw-dropping LOTRO panoramas
One of the true joys for many Lord of the Rings Online fans is being able to explore an intricate and often gorgeous-looking Middle-earth. While many screenshot folders have been filled with LOTRO vistas over the years, one player has taken it to the next level by piecing together spectacular panoramas of the landscape.

“Tolkien has put so much detail into creating Middle-earth. That’s why I decided to tag my screenshots with as much detail as to name of places, mountains, rivers, and the many things that Tolkien envisioned in Middle-earth that are present in LOTRO,” wrote Joego.

Check out several of these below, and for the rest, make sure to swing over to Joego’s Facebook page.

Not wanting to catch any unwarranted attention but as the host of the images I just feel I should drop that tidbit of info here.

Am I the only one who thinks those look really bad? Some are oversaturated to degree that my eyes hurt. Others are a showcase how crappy and outdated LoTRO mountains look now

I’m also not a fan of over-saturated screenshots/photos, but personally I think they are just right at the good spot.
I would love to see a mountain upgrade on LOTRO. There should be an option to improve the quality of distant textures.

I am post processing the raw screenshots through photoshop, but I’ve heard that SweetFX is a great tool!

Wow! I was shocked today when I saw that my material had been posted here! I am so so thankful for this and all the comments! I really appreciate it! If you guys have any questions, suggestions, critiques, hit me up on my facebook or twitter! And don’t forget to follow me there as well if you want to keep up with what I’ve been doing! I promise there are many more beautiful vistas to come!

Thanks for sharing these with us! Four-leaf Goldberry, my burg retired from a life of crime and returned to the Shire but misses her days of adventure. Those pics bring back happy memories!

Great vistas. Shame about the broken endgame, idiotic p2w loot box gambling and tired quest lines.

I really miss the old open space MMORPG maps. Nowadays everything is cramped and instanced :(

i dont see any square beards, I refuse to believe these are in game shots

What filters does he apply to his screen shots after stitching them together? I ask because I’ve never seen anything in game like the color palette in some of those shots.

Either post processing in photoshop but some of the SweetFX configs like LotRO Ameliorated come close to the effect you see on the screenshots.

I post process the screenshots through Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop CC. I never tried SweetFX before.
I might give it a try someday, but probably would disable it for the screenshots since taking raw screenshots gives me more to work with.

If only they put as much detail into the textures and models of the avatars =/ I downloaded the game to give a go again about two months ago and couldn’t get past how dated the character models are.

Agreed. LotRO has fantastic environments and landscapes and horrifically dated and unrealistic character models.

LOTRO 2.0 for Prez 2020!!!

But in all seriousness, the level design and landscapes in LOTRO are spot on, high fidelity (for the time and have aged very well imo some will disagree ofc), and most of all immersive. That was one of the best parts to be able to explore ME and follow the path as an additional helper/adventurer besides the actual fellowship. Really all that SSG should do is work with Daybreak to start converting assets, quests, stories, cutscenes, etc into the Forgelight engine (Planetside 2, EQN #RIP) developed by SOE as it really is a powerful tool for landscape design and keeping in vein with the sprawling open world that LOTRO is known for. Make LOTRO 2.0 with modernized combat and release with the same updates but actually modernize this wonderful game. The foundation is there, but will that happen? Absolutely not, but one can dream…

I would very much love to see LOTRO updated and modernised, with new character models. There is so much there that is still wonderful (including that music system!), but it all feels very dated and clunky, and the character models are horrific. I think it would do very well as a 2.0 game.

I would love a LOTRO 2.0 as well, but I would deeply miss the characters and the content… if there was a way to make a new game and import the quests and characters, that would be great. Hopefully they’ll be able to upgrade the game a great bunch when they move to 64-bit client.

Love the game and can even put up with the lousy cash shop and poor grinds, but the performance is no longer there and it plays terrible, I agree the client and server structure needs a massive update but as far I’m aware they have said they can not do a 64bit client and they will be no fixes for the bad performance issues.

That’s why I no longer play and probably thousands more, but to be honest it’s a dying game and I don’t think they have the resources to update/ correct any performance issues but only enough keep pumping out subpar grindy content for the few and live off a few bites.

They have said they are continuing to work on a 64 bit client, but haven’t made any promises about when that’s going to launch. They are trying to be careful about what they say, but they seem optimistic.
