Wild West Online crosses the launch frontier on May 10

Saddle up, pard’ners, ’cause it’s about to be a bumpy ride.

Wild West Online announced today that it is officially launching on May 10th. Yes, as in two weeks from now. On that day, the game will simultaneously leave early access and release on Steam. It’s a pretty big step for a game that has not been in open development and testing for very long.

The studio said that when it arrives on Steam, Wild West Online’s launch build will add faction global conflict, big PvP world events, many more PvE missions, and a bunch of side activities. These include mining, farming, hunting, cooking, and (most importantly) brewing that alochol. The west can’t be very wild if everyone’s sober, after all.

Check out the Steam date announcement after the break!

Character customization seems very limited if you can’t even choose your gender. I will check the game out when (if?) you can play as your gender of choice. That’s such a basic feature that not having it is just flat out a non-starter.

I predict it will be bad

It looks very broken with poor animation and over the top customization, along with that it still has no female models which gives the impression of rush job to get it out, I was very interested in this title but no anymore.

Weird that it seems so jarring, maybe it is the world setting rather than like fantasy or sci-fi seeing some of that customization seemed silly as hell.

This always seemed like a quick cash grab to capitalize on the demand for RDR2. Of course they’ve got to get it out the door as soon as possible. This gives them about six months to milk it.

Well, that was fast.
Is this going to be one of those “Oh, but we needed the money”-releases ?

Wait… dafuq??

I thought this game was still in like early alpha and development? Has anyone played it and have some feedback on the overall quality of the game?

Hmmm. I will mark that one down on my calendar.

You still can’t roll a female character though, eh? Not by the looks of it.

Exactly. As much as I would have loved an MMO that was in any way similar to Red Dead Redemption, I won’t play an MMO that doesn’t have female characters. And I know that they’ve said that female characters are in development, but launching without them? Ugh.

Yeah, I mean, what are they going to do, offer a free /gender change later? Or what do they expect us to do, ditch high-level characters with all their gear and skills and start over, some months down the line?

I hope this isn’t a rush-job launch because they’re flat broke and need the added funds (many smaller MMO devs like Funcom come immediately to mind here).

brewing that alochol

Seems like Justin may have had a little too much alochol.

Wow… that seems unrealistically fast.

My concerns about pvp and ganking, are now quickly replaced by “Will this game even have more than a handful of content?” or “How many bugs and glitches am I going to have to deal with.” and the typical “Wish this game didnt feel like it was still in alpha”
