Bless Online previews the Guardian and Paladin classes with fresh videos

Remember, you were the ones who couldn't wait for this game.

Neowiz is following up its Bless Online class previews from last week with another round of videos, this time focusing on the different combat styles for each playable archetype. Videos for the Berserker, Ranger, and Mage are now being followed up with a deep-dive on the Guardian and Paladin.

Guardians sound like stance-based tanks whose resource, dubbed bravery, rises as the character performs combos. Paladins, on the other hand, are hybrid melee healers.

“The third skill of a combo in each of the paladin’s stances is a buff, and by changing the buff used, paladins can function either as a damage dealer or a healer,” Neowiz writes. “Although the paladin has fewer combo types than other classes, it requires more tactical skill as choosing the right combo for the situation is extremely important.”

I must admit I am tempted to give this a try for the lack of anything else that interest me at the moment . It does seem to have all the elements I like in an mmo but will just have to see how it works in practice .

ugh the strafing lol

He explains the whole system very well :)

Note to everyone: The skills shown in the videos are just a few of all the skills you pick from. There are different stances for each play style and many more skills to customize your character so it plays like you want it.

I personally am looking forward to the Paladin class :D

Meh. If they add a PVE server ruleset I’d be interested, until then I’m not touching this game.

Reader
rogbarz

There won’t be any Pve server but if you prefer to play it like that there is an item you can buy ingame that disables PVP for you. ( bought with ingame currency btw)

up to level cap and then you use cash shop currency to buy it.

Reader

As the last person stated. You get ingame currency to spend on the cash shop each day which can be used to purchase that item.

Reader
Utakata

This is something you shouldn’t have to buy though. Because all the time one is working to get enough funds to purchase this item, they are flagged for PvP. Simply not good enough.

Reader
rogbarz

@Utakata, The game does feature open world PVP, so getting the option to skip pvp even by a potion is nice I would say. Also do not forget that you do not take part in any kind of open world pvp until lvl 30 ish as until then you lvl in faction based zones.

In general, I am not a big pvp’er myself but these days there is not 1 MMO that is decent so personally I am going in open minded :)

I would not call that nice. I would call that nickel and diming.

Reader
rogbarz

Why? It doesn’t cost you a penny. you buy it in-game with in-game currency. You get it pretty much of every activity in the game.

Nickel and Diming – “put a financial strain on (someone) by charging small amounts for many minor services.”

Pretty much you could be using that currency on something you really want from the cash shop and instead it’ll be funneled to keep PvP status off for people who do not like PvP. Thus the person who doesn’t mind PvP will be able to spend that earned currency on other items in the shop while someone who does mind PvP will have to spend their earned currency just to avoid being killed by others.

Personally, I don’t mind because I like both PvP and PvE (and have no qualms about open-world PvP), and thus would never spend any money to toggle off PvP. However, it’s a basic feature that should not have to be toggled via an item purchasable in the cash shop at endgame. Being nice would be making it able to be toggled in game without jumping through hoops or making servers that are strictly PvE. The current system is not nice.

Don’t take me wrong, I do agree that it’s not the best solution and I do believe that this is going to be one of the biggest feedback points after the EA release and I do hope they find another system for it but as I said what we got is better then nothing.

I guess this is one of those wait and see things on how it will work out. especially since we do not know how important said currency will be in the game. As they might have tokens for some stuff and etc such as Gw2 or other mmo’s have for gear.

Fair enough, wait and see is always a good approach and I do agree that it is better than nothing.

I’m definitely jaded from all of these free-to-play imports and their over-the-top cash shops. It normally starts out with minor little conveniences and cosmetics, and then escalates within 6 months once the population begins to drop. At launch they’re getting lots of small contributions to their profits from the player rush and when that slows down they want to keep revenue up by incentivizing big purchases. So to me, having something like this for sale in the cash-shop is a red flag of what’s to come down the road. It’s 100% possible that I am completely wrong, but I do agree a wait and see prior to committing to the game is likely the best route to take in this situation.

personally I am also waiting for a nice mmo and I really hope this can be the one. Every mmo the last few years have just turned out to be terrible and if they start good, we get as you mentioned the introduction of questionable items

It’s very disheartening because a lot of them have really good systems, graphics, and/or combat, and then they ruin it =[ I hope this one works out for you!

I am keeping an open mind too, I just not allowing my brains to fall out here. That is, if this game comes with a PvP optional flagging (and not one you have to purchase ingame or out), then I’ll give it try.

It looks old and dull.

Reader
Roger Melly

Don’t most mmo’s . It doesn’t look old and dull to me compared to most of what we have around at the moment .

Looks solid to me, but I’m older and I’d rather have a slightly slower speed to combat anyways.
Some of those games with the hyper kinetic movements give me a headache haha!

**I’m also concerned with the non-PVP pots they’ll be selling, but it makes sense for them to encourage PvE players to particapte in PvP since that’s such a focus of the end-game. As long as the game isn’t P2W and has other PvE content, too, I’ll keep an open mind.
Plus, sometimes it’s fun to go into a dangerous area and try not getting killed, even if you’re not good at PvP.

I need a new game to jump into…when are they going to announce Early Access??

Reader
rogbarz

11th of May we expect them to launch the EA as they have a press conference planned + we have been waiting for a while :P

To put your concerns to rest, when it comes to Pve content there are plenty of activities (dungeons, raids, taming, ….) and they already confirmed that they will be adding more PvE and PvP activities. In the end there is only so much they can do for PvP but there is limitless amount of Pve then can add.

You can kinda see this as a Improved Archeage without the Pay to win if you would looking to compare it to something.

Reader
aYates

I hope you’re right on all accounts!
Wow, May 11th…seems like they would’ve announced that by now. That’s right around the corner. Cool.
And, housing, housing, housing. I want housing lol

Reader
rogbarz

About to leave to work, but I can tell you that they are looking into guild housing to be added in the near future ( could be a few months) but as they mentioned never say never on personal housing.

The devs seem to be community driven and have listened a lot to us so maybe this is something they will add :)

Ps: 11th of May we expect the pre-purchase of the EA sorry not the launch. We do think that the launch will follow in the coming week and a half.

Reader

While this does look interesting.
Did they mention anything about the cash shop PVP disabling item.

Reader
rogbarz

They have already confirmed that there will be an item you can buy from an ingame vendor that disables PVP. Do note that the same item at lvl 50 will require a different currency that you earn by doing max lvl activities (dungeons, quests, pvp, …. )

Reader
Mr Neeo

The steam article actually includes videos for all classes, not just Paladin and Guardian!

Looks interesting, but in fairness I never thought the previous version of the combat was even that bad to begin with :/

Looking forward to more info from the press event on the 11th May!

Okay, I played Mage in Bless yeaaars ago… and for once, they didn’t lie, they did completely revamp the combat.
Dunno if it will be good (always worried with tab target games converting), but the mobility and the feedback is absolutely night and day; it felt like a shitty early fire mage from WoW, and now it looks like quite the fun romp charging spells on your target while on the move.
