Wizard101’s Doctor Who event is bigger on the inside

Someone over at KingsIsle is obviously a big Doctor Who fan, because Wizard101’s current event is a thinly veiled homage to that sci-fi series. Players are challenged to seek out the Professor and his five B.O.X.E.S., which look suspiciously like red-themed TARDISes.

“Besides a new journey though the Spiral, what does your Wizard have to gain from the Five B.O.X.E.S.?” the devs ask. “How about the first craftable mounts, the Digmoore Pogo Stick and Ravenwood Pogo Stick! You should also visit Rose Piper to learn crafting recipes for exclusive furniture items. Plus the Professor will lead you to epic rewards for your Wizard.”

Meanwhile at its sister game, Pirate101 is offering a discounted deal on a year subscription. From now through May 6th, you can secure 12 months of sub time for $60, which comes out to $5 a month. Not too shabby, even for penny-pinching pirates!

Been years since I’ve played. The only thing holding me back is that I couldn’t chat or communicate within the chat box, did they fix this? Also, the battles seemed to last longer than I liked. Other than that, it’s really a fun game.

It would be the kids targeted game that gets Doctor Who stuff :(.

Hmm, they went with the 4th Professor, eh? Probably the safest option.

Don’t know this game but big kudos for the Doctor Who references! Been a fan since I first it on Milwaukee PBS in the late 70s!

First episode I ever saw had Louise Jameson as Leela, also on pbs in the 70’s.

Been a fan ever since.

Fav episode is ‘Caves of Androzani’ with Peter Davison as the Doctor. It was so dark and gothic, loved it. You know, speaking of the Doctor, the rebooted BBC Wales series is very good and sometimes great, but my heart will always be with the 80’s series.

Yeah I love the classic Who from the 60s-80s, especially Tom Baker. The new show is good too but I too prefer the classics.

Peter Davison was definitely ‘my Doctor’, though I do recall very much liking a latter Tom Baker story called Warrior’s Gate.

BTW, concerning the modern rebooted series, I never thought I would say that I miss original producer Russell T. Davies.

Leela is indeed awesome! My favorite is still Sarah Jane Smith but Leela is in my top 5 for sure.
