Elder Scrolls Online rolls out special Twitch drops and crates

Twitch and Elder Scrolls Online have decided to hold hands and go skipping along in a park together. ZeniMax announced that new Twitch drops for ESO are now a thing, provided that players have linked their accounts.

Starting on May 21st, players will get a free Twitch crate every time they make an ESO purchase through the Twitch store. These crates have a variety of consumables and a chance at a very rare mount and pet.

If you want a crate without paying money, you’ll have your opportunity by watching supported Twitch streams (coming soon). View all the way to the end of these special streams, and poof, you’ll get a free crate. Cool, eh?

Reeeee how dare they enable Twitch streamers by adding freebies that I can get from simply having a tab open on a stream that I can mute and ignore.

Stop trying to make Twitch happen!

Seriously, ESO is the anti-thesis of Twitch viewing. It is slow and best enjoyed by yourself, taking your time to enjoy the lore and world. People watch Twitch for fast paced action games that they might not be able to perform as well as those they are viewing.

When I were a lad there were no loot crates or twitch . We were happy with a piece of string and an onion .

yeah. I like occasionally playing ESO but their lootbox bullshit I’ll pass on forever.

This is why I don’t recommend ESO to friends because of the Crown Crates. Competing games like WoW and FFXIV are just far more appealing from this point of view.

“Cool, eh?”

About as cool as lighting my genitals on fire.

I’d never recommend this game to anybody and this is coming from a huge ES fan.

How this game sidesteps the scornvalanche that has caught EA, bungie and Trion on these sites is beyond me.

Sounds like a bunch of convoluted bullshit I don’t have time for and no desire to get involved with, I never watch live TV so why the hell would I waste my limited free time to watch some ass hat play a game I’d rather be playing my self for a chance at specific loot made for Twitch?

I feel ya man, I had an 11 year old talk to me until he was blue in the face about why twitch is awesome and it ended with us both frustrated. I’ll never understand what somebody gets out of twitch.

I use it very sparingly. Like when a new game hits the shelf I go watch someone streaming it for like 5-10 minutes to see if I have any interest in buying it. That is about as far as I go with it. About as exciting as watching Golf.

So, for my generation: This is like trading stamps, Green Stamps, Blue Chip Stamps, Orange Stamps, where every time you shop at a participating store, you get stamps. You stick these in a book and then turn in the books for goodies. Only, with the stamps, you choose what you wanted. And of course, your money bought real groceries.

Oh great.. A stream that I can pull up on a VM or something and then ignore.
