Bless Online posts Q&A on pre-loading, regions, and how long founder packs stay up

If you grimace at the idea of getting important game news on Facebook but you still want to know what’s up with Bless Online, buckle up buttercup because that’s where Neowiz’s put it this morning. The studio’s uploaded a handful of Q&As regarding the lead-up to launch next week

Notably, the studio says there will be no pre-loading of the game, so if your connection isn’t the greatest, you’re going to be behind the curve right off the bat. (Lots of people chafing at this one.)

Neowiz also notes that you can still purchase a founder’s pack even on the first day of early access (the 28th, two days early) and exclusive skins are bound to the character that claims them (so make sure to claim them on the right toon). And as for regions?

“There will be two regions at the beginning of EA: NA and EU. The number of servers in each region is subject to change.”

I’m going to just leave this here:

I absolutely called it. Told you so.

Also this entire Bless Online situation completely reeks of a ‘Pump & Dump’ scheme. USA people are always the last to get anything from Asian countries because Asian devs hate you. They hate you. All of you. All the time. “Filthy gaijin”. Go look at the racist vitriol spewed against foreign players when the devs self-censored a game by adding larger panties to an underage-looking character.

Blame US foreign policy for this mess? I’m not one to get into politics, but it affects gaming whether we like it or not.

Ok it was whack to make me go to facebook for that little bit of information. Facebook is 7-Up to me. Never had it, never will.

Soooo… if I read this right, if I buy the game on the 28th I can start playing it on the 28th? That might tempt me.

A for-profit company wants $200 from me but isn’t willing to spring the GoDaddy money for a web domain?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, Nope.

the founder’s pack top pack is 150$ now… I am confused though, People answer questions as developers all the time on FB, what’s wrong with that? It’s not like they don’t have a website.

I don’t understand the comment. They have a website. It’s https://blessonline.net/. However the Steam Community Hub serves as the main hub of information, whereas the website is more of a teaser site.

Wait a minute. This founders pack thing is 200 dollars?! That doesn’t make financial sense. But I would be curious how much they make from offering it.

The Steam Early Access rule that people mentioned below seems unfortunate, for any company trying to provide early access to an Early Access game. The good news is this dubious decision seems not to be Bless’ idea.

In that case, I think a bit longer than two days for $150 or $200 might be better.

Reader
Michael

It is probably because they don’t really think most games will have early access to an early access game cause it is pretty ridiculous lol

Reader
Leiloni

If the amount of people who want to download the game early in order to play Early Access is any indication, it’s not a ridiculous idea at all. Clearly it’s a popular idea.

Reader
Michael

I mean, it clearly isn’t. As games that have early access that are in early access are not common. This is all just Steam’s automated systems not working the way we want them to.

Every time i read something about this game i just feel meh about it. Nobody really knows anything until the games been out awhile. All the hype and praise from game sites and fans was the same way for Archage and BDO. This is just more proof that the genre is suffering to me. Just to remind everyone that this game failed 3 times in other markets. Eastern game companies send these games to the U.S. market as a last chance to make money but no one talks about that.

I just read the comments section of the most recent BDO article: http://massivelyop.com/2018/05/23/lahn-is-fully-live-in-black-desert-today-with-revamped-login-rewards-tomorrow/#comments and didn’t believe it so I went and checked it out for myself. The comment was right, it’s a complete shit show in BDO right now.

I will be more than likely staying away from Bless Online and not because I don’t like the ideas about the game. Asia has become a glorified Steam Greenlight situation.

yay for condemning an entire continent based on one action \o/

I’m against racism (since it doesn’t actually make sense)… Reading his comment several times and conflating the white knight reference to the racist group is a bit a wee stretch dont you think? :-)

Your first comment was down right hilarious.

That sounds like it’s from a movie. What is it?

Im looking for a pretty half way decent 90s grind MMO with tab-target. This might be it. PvP FFA always fucks it up in the end though for me. ArcheAge being the latest I had to abandon.

Biggest concern is the pre-loading? I mean.. really?

Not the fact that premium skins are not account-based?
Not the fact that the upgrade system has RNG with items to boost the chance (with non-premium currency that is used to buy premium currency, at a capped conversion per day ratio)?
Not the fact that respecs are available only in the shop with premium currency?
Also inventory slots are in the shop..

Oh but you can buy premium currency with the “activity points” – yes, it takes only 24 different calendar days to accrue enough “AP” to get the equivalent of 1200 lumena = 10$.

All of that in a game that is “re-launching” for like the 3rd time, with a box price, a shop, multiple currencies, RNG extravaganza and a “premium convenience service” or whatever they wanna call it today, and yet all comments are on the lack of preloading XD

I mean, today 40$ gets you ESO vanilla + morrowind + summerset + cosmetics that are account bound, respecs are for in-game gold, so is inventory and so is bank space..
I don’t know, even if the value of “novelty” is subjective, I am still scratching my head over this one..

The skins are account based, you can just mail them around. You just can’t trade them on AH. The character bound skins are the ones that are not account wide are the founder’s pack skins only.

The rng crafting has absolutely nothing to do with the CS or paying real money.
Respecs are lame for sure, cant argue that, but I can live with it personally. Also, in GW2 you buy inventory in the CS. In ESO you also need to sub to access all the continent unless you paid a TON on DLC. Also have fun with the horse training without paying :P You also need the sub for endless craft bag in ESO, game is basically unplayable without it.

I miss pre-loading. However, this seems to be Steams doing. I found this on an Early Access rule document for steam EA products: “Early Access titles must deliver a playable game or usable software to the customer at the time of purchase, while pre-purchase games are delivered at a future date”

Reader
Jokerchyld

wait… I can ONLY get the founder pack on the 28th through Steam? I can’t go to bless online.com or something?

From what I’ve seen, since it is considered an early Early Access title (launch being when they get assassins and mystics balanced iirc) they have to provide a game/software at the time of sale. If they wanted to release it as a full product, they’d be allowed to do pre-orders and pre-loads but it’d have to be launch without an early access period.

I love to see how companies make the worst choices. I can see people complaining that bought founders and lost 2 days trying to download.

The no pre-loading is a rule of Steam Early Access I believe. Neowiz said that they would be asking Steam if they could grant them an exception for this. I guess Steam said no. :\

And the plot thickens! So the Steam rules is they must give us a copy of the game at purchase since its not considered a preorder. Interesting.

Going back down the thread to see if there is more to this tale!

2 days head start to download the game and wait in queue.

After which the servers will crash. Yup. Been there and have done that.

Reader

LOL, I’d do it… but not for 100+. That’s crazy. 20-40 is reasonable in my eyes (for basic access, I dont need all that virtual chatchki).
