With all of the talk and revival of interest in classic Guild Wars, it’s certainly been a great time to celebrate this beloved MMO (yeah, I’m calling it an MMO, what are you going to do about it?). I’m certainly happy that the game is still providing a fun playspace for fans and is even getting improvements in 2018.
So here’s a pie-in-the-sky question: What if ArenaNet decided that there was enough of a community for Guild Wars 1 that it commissioned an actual new expansion or campaign for the game? I know, I know, it will never happen. For all I know, it can never happen because of technological limitations and whatnot.
But… what if it did? Would you play it? Since we’re dreaming here, what kind of classic Guild Wars expansion would you love to see made?

Absolutely, GW1 is one of the greatest treasures in MMO history.
Absolutely. GW1 was a wonderful game. The nail in GW2’s coffin (for me) is that it abandoned too much of what made GW1 good.
Yes, in a heartbeat. GW1 is still a solid game, and I’d love to run through some new content. If it added two new Masteries, or new skills for the existing Masteries, opening up a slew of new builds, that was be even more amazing. While GW2 may look better than GW1, and have jumping, GW1 is by far the superior game, IMO.
I tried to play it a few months ago and it was too dated for me, same with lotro and dnd online.Maybe it would be of interest to some of the people who originaly played it. I would just play something with similar gameplay that doesnt look like that.
It’s just too dated to appeal to me. I wish I had played it back in the day though.
We might get a GW1 expansion of sorts as I would not be surprised if the third expansion for GW2 is Utopia based. That would both give us a totally new area to the franchise AND tingle people’s nostalgia sense at the same time. It’s the most logical thing to do. Even more than Cantha.
I’m not sure. I keep meaning to play GW1 again, but never go through with it due to burnout. Whether that burnout would apply to new content or not, I don’t know.
If I can kill more evil Charr bastards, then sure.
Always thought it was funny how they did a complete turnaround with the Charr from GW1 to GW2.
Heh, you could get really philosophical with the turnaround. Suffice it to say, I don’t think the relations between human’s and charr would have changed as much as Arenanet wanted to change them. I understand the mechanics behind it, but story wise, it’s a little off.
Actually on second thought, if this included a graphics remaster and some quality of life changes (jumping). I would be all over it.
No
NO. When Guild Wars rewarded players for leaving the game. Guild Wars turned into an empty shell. Ruining my experience, I see no difference between this at the TSW game. All they want is money, and players mean nothing to them. Luckily not all dev’s are this evil.
