Diablo III starts Season 14 and the Great Treasure Goblin Hunt

14

The Season of Greed is upon us, and the only way to satiate it is to dive into Diablo III. Season 14 started this past week, bringing the debut of seasonal content, which is really just an ongoing in-game event.

This time around, it’s more treasure goblins: “For the duration of Season 14, all treasure goblin spawns will be doubled. This means that each time you encounter a treasure goblin in the wild, they’ll be accompanied by an exact duplicate of themselves for two times the loot, chaos, and fun!”

As with past seasons, this one features new cosmetic rewards, the boots and pants of the Conqueror set, journey rewards, and conquests. Season 14 will run through September 16th, although the non-seasonal leaderboard will persist past that.

Only reason I played Season 13 was to get the pet. I can never remember his real name, cause I call him Teddy Krueger.

Has anyone encountered 2x goblins during regular runs, or is it confined to seasonal heroes?

I rolled a HC character and died at 65 because I tried T1 a bit too early haha.

I’m amazed Blizzard even bothers with these seasons anymore because it’s always the same song and dance. The rewards for this are quite frankly one giant ‘meh’. At least Season 13 had a bloody teddy bear with razor sharp claws.

Is this also happening on PS? I’ve been playing on my PlayStation and the controls are so beautiful I can’t go back to the mouse and KB. I feel like a turncoat but damn it’s just so cozy to put your feet up and play it that way. Wish they could port it back to PC like that as an extra option.

Yes Consoles also get seasons but I think their time table is a bit different.

I don’t know if this latest season has made it to consoles yet but they’ve had past seasons on consoles. I only play Diablo on the PS4 because I too am spoiled by the controls.

The RNG in this game is to frustrating for me. The loot drops i get is always trash or things i don’t use. If they did something about that i would go back and play. My luck with RNG is always bad in games. This is why i like Torchlight 2 over Diablo 3 and i can mod Torchlight 2. also.

Games with mods do help with these like this. I would suggest checking out Grimdawn if you like games like this that you can mod. However they have implemented relatively smart loot especially when compared to launch.

Just to be clear as the first and second sentence of the second paragraph are a little unclear. Does this mean a SINGLE loot goblin will be dropping double loot or that there will simply be a second loot goblin whenever one occurs?

Keeping track of two before they portal out would be a pain especially if they run off in different directions??

They DO run off in different directions, so you just pick one and go after it.

The great thing is if you’re playing with a friend, you can each target a goblin! No escape!

2 Goblins spawn.

I appreciate blizzard finally trying change things up a bit, by adding “themes” to seasons, to make each season feel a bit different.

However, they really didnt very much out of their way to do it. They have already done the whole “double treasure goblin” thing for another event, so this isnt anything new. With Blizzards resources, I would have hoped they would have put a bit more creativity and effort into this concept.

So

Idea: A+
Effort: D-

Chances are high that they’re not going to ever bother spending too much resources on D3 unless they know they can get some more money out of it.
