Pokemon Go is finally letting you make friends and trade pokemon

LIVE WITH ME

One of the most fundamental aspects of the series will finally arrive in Pokemon Go sometime soon. The game has been out for a while, but you still can’t give your friend a Pidgey (named “Trash Bird”) in exchange for an Oddish (named “Smell Onion”). But when trading and friends arrive in the game, you can give your friends useful monsters in exchange for anything from another monster to good feelings.

Trading will be very reliant upon the friendship system, and it has some limitations, as both players need to be within 100 meters to trade and will have to pay a stardust fee based on friend level. Yes, there are friendship levels, and there are also rewards for trading pokemon caught far away from where you and your friend meet. Check out the full rundown on the official site, and get ready for more details and analysis as it arrives before the next fan gathering in July.

This is cool.
Except I think my fiancé transferred all his extra Lickitungs. That’s the one non-legendary pokemon I can’t seem to get and he’s caught, like, 5. (I know, I know, the dirty joke possibilities here are pretty much endless.)

At least he didn’t name himself “CarpetMuncher.” That’s actually someone’s boyfriend’s account, and they play together. The kids in the group luckily don’t get it (and neither do some of the adults ^_^; )

Fiance’s name isn’t the most appropriate thing, but it’s more juvenile humor. I did kick someone out of a gym once because he had a sex act as a username. I was walking home and he’d just gotten in and I wasn’t going to bother until I saw the name.

And it will be insane costs of stardust to trade.

I think they are determined to run over their own player base.

The more they do dumbass moves like this, and making Mew2 impossible to get, and the fact that I just don’t get shiny ANYTHING anymore I’m just about to quit this POS game, and delete it from my phone!

Whoever is in charge of some of the decisions at Niantic needs to be fired.

P2P trading ….. screw them

Stardust makes sense in the long run. Hardcores have a lot of it, and collectors usually seem to hoard it. It’s not as bad after the discounts, but that does mean meeting someone from another country for the first time is gonna pay a lot to trade.
For Mewtwo, it’s tough because they don’t always do times that work for everyone. If it helps, look for gyms at Starbucks and Parks. If those aren’t near you (or your work), churches and college campuses are sometimes eligible too. Your local PoGo scene probably knows and you can ask them (if you can find them, which is why I still feel in-game communication or social media/texting connection should be included with this system).
As for shinies, community day! At least for me, community day is about meeting locals, but I understand the shiny lust (my group already knows I may be missing on Squirtle day ;P ). If you’re able to play, one shortcut my group has found is to be near a Starbucks, especially if it has a lot of Pokestops and/or gyms nearby. The featured pokemon always seems to spawn in those areas more than actual parks. The only other place that’s genuinely better is downtown Disneyland -_-

If you can’t play, you might want to look into a “Go-tcha,” an unofficial Pokemon Go+ that auto catches and spins without you needing to click anything. Just have supplies built up and your pokemon cleared out before community day, then turn the Go-tcha on around 11am and pray to the RNG gods. It’s worked for some people!

RNG can suck me.

If they keep making the game not friendly to casuals, I’ll leave. There are plenty of other companies willing to recognize and offer service to people with my playstyle.

Pretty awesome, in one fell swoop they’re making the game both more Pokemon-like and more MMO-like. I hope it works out great! Haven’t played too much for going on a year now but lots of the changes (quests, raids, community days) seem really excellent.

Several years more, and they will implement… pokemon battles between trainers!
Well, they are very very poor company, so need to accumulate some money for every small feature to add.
