Paid Khitan cosmetic DLC arrives in Conan Exiles

A new era for Conan Exiles is upon us, the era of paid DLC. It is a vital step in the long-term sustainability of this survival sandbox, which is why Funcom is putting a lot of enthusiasm behind its new Imperial East Pack.

The DLC is now available for $10 and contains three new armor sets, nine Khitan-themed weapons, 25 additional placeables, five decorative warpaints, and a new set of tier 3 building pieces. “Our artists have knocked it out of the park with this one,” Funcom exclaimed.

The studio also said that work continues on both pets and additional combos for off-hand weapons. Threat animations, a redesigned clan menu, muting functions, and more are being tested out right now.

Conan Exiles is currently 40% off (at $24) during Steam’s summer sale.

I like it. I like that it’s just cosmetic; I like that it’s just $10; and I like that their artists still have jobs.

It also gives me some vague hope that, since they’re still pumping out artwork, these assets are being used for AoC2.

This game looks gorgeous. Yet, it isn’t what people who play AoC signed up for, honestly.

Which makes me even more pissed off.

For a second i thought i read there was new stuff in AoC, but then my hopes were squashed..

You mean re-used or adapted current Age of Conan assets. Just like I said when they started dropping hints about this. Man these guys are masters…

I really doubt that they reused assets from AoC for this game at all. If you can Show anything specific like a direct comparison of an AoC asset to a Exiles asset, do so. I can’t remember any similar armor sets in AoC at least.

Tier 4 is the Khitan raid tier.

Low effort Asset flip!!!

But no, even if they have things of an identical design in the old game, I wouldn’t care. visual continuity is good. But if they’re taking 10 year old assets and importing them into the new game that’s obviously a problem.

At least know what an “asset flip” is before you accuse a company of doing one. At worst it’s a reskin of their own assets. But there is absolutely NO EVIDENCE these assets have been bought from an asset store.

The recent tend of using the term in “asset flip” in such a blatently ignorant manner is getting stupid.

It was a joke. Cheers.

FWIW I really don’t care if people buy assets from an asset store if it fits in with the rest of the game.

Yeah this stuff doesn’t look like recycled AoC assets to me. The only thing I’ve seen in Conan Exiles that is adapted from their other games (both Secret world and Age of Conan) is the mocaps for their emotes. Dances and idle stances in Conan Exiles are the exact same as they are in their MMOs.

Most of the musical score is recycled AOC

Yep; and it’s glorious.

Actually chose my main base location by what music I wanted to hear. One of the new songs is a cover of…whatever that song is that plays at the end of Last of the Mohicans when they’re up in the mountains and that chick jumps off the cliff. Love that song.

I think it looks pretty nice. A little cheaper than I was expecting, too. I figured it’d be $15.

Honestly, that’s more than you typically get from a cosmetic pack in other games for this price point and with that level of detail.

I’m sure a lot of people will hate on this DLC pack, but I’m happy to support the continued development of the game, especially when its reasonably priced like that.

Gaming’s Believe It or Not!

I haven’t played this game?

True! It’s on a very short list though, can’t wait.

I haven’t either.

Considering I really enjoyed AoC, and my Bear Shaman was probably one of the coolest classes since WAR’s Warrior Priest / GW2’s Firebrand, I just cannot seem to garner any interest in the Survival aspect of Exiles. Honestly I’ve yet to even try a Survival game at all, besides Skyrim with Realistic Needs & Frostfall mods…

The ONLY one I’ve been remotely interested in is “The Wild Eight”…and I’ve yet to pull the trigger on that, even though it’s 12$ on Steam right now…

Same i thoroughly enjoyed AoC, then one of my characters hit cap (80 i think it was) and like a switch i was done, no hate just done, lol?

Partly why i haven’t tried this one yet is ARK, totally mesmerized for about 10 hours then yea, done, i was ARK’d out.

This game looks to be a complete carbon copy at first look so no interest, although over time i found there is allot of difference, the interface only looks familiar. So wished i started with this one from the sounds of it, ARK is just not my setting mostly.

AoC and warhammer online had some of the coolest class designs ever created. Wish we had something similiar to those in the mmorpg genre currently.
