Overwatch players raised almost $13M to fight breast cancer in ‘Pink Mercy’ campaign

Remember last spring when Blizzard ran that big “Pink Mercy” charity campaign in Overwatch? The company’s run the numbers, and it turns out Overwatch players are really generous, really pissed off about cancer, or really like pink. My guess is it’s all three.

“Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the Overwatch community during the Pink Mercy charity campaign, weโ€™ve raised more than $12.7 million (USD) to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This is the largest donation by a corporate partner within one year in BCRFโ€™s 25-year history, and itโ€™s all because of you.”

Naturally, there’s a video of the pink Mercy skin contributors have snagged!

I’m not going to get into the what’s where’s and whys but where’s the calculator that shows the calculations of just how many billions is it going to take to find a cure?
Who’s gonna be the one that says well it’s probably the chemicals that we put into our bodies or the environments that we live in that’s been contaminated?

Claps though…

Like most things, cancer occurs under both genetic and environmental influence.

But it would be majorly unpopular to outright say the “Western Diet” is killing us. Or that factories and cars are killing us. And despite the success of the Clean Air Act and its bilateral support, it’s now become rather partisan to talk even about pollution. The risk of revelation is that it would be ardently denied.

He’s trying to do the “I am cool edgy hip guy who lingoes shit that is so strange mix of eclectic mix of stupid and stupider that I might sound cool in a weird wacky way like a rebel new Timothy Leary way…”

It’s like when a 40 year old guy would say “Air guitar…that is what Hot Pocket eaters want….air guitar……with green Mohawks.”

Either that or he’s a really bad 70’s George Carlin impersonator.

EDIT: My own personal edit, no harm meant, he had good intentions.

That’s alot of money. Hopefully it goes to actual research and not to pay “administrators”.

They have a Charity Navigator score of 89.4 (out of 100). Only 2.9% goes toward admin expenses.
