City of Titans offers up a Fourth of July teaser

“Heroes may fall. Heroism never dies.”

With a not-so-covert nod to the late City of Heroes, City of Titans’ latest 4th of July video attempts to bridge a connection between the fall of one superhero MMO and the coming of another.

The short video shows a statue (which some have called a Statesman homage) on Lockharde Island with the inspirational words listed above. A new shield-bearing hero stands vigilant as the fireworks go off behind him. What’s really notable about this clip is that the studio claims that all assets in it were filmed in the game world, so if that’s the case, then City of Titans is looking pretty darn good from what little we’ve seen of it.

Check it out below!

Hoping for the best for this one. Thanks to the team for all their continuing hard work — it’s appreciated.

The statue is of the late apex hero of Titan City, American Star, who died stopping Cumulus Rex, responsible for Hurricane Atlas. He is Anthem’s mentor, and her armor was originally his (the statue shows him wearing it – it looks different on anthem because it is also standing in for the hand she lost in the same battle that killed American Star).

I stand as the current party to blame on any project slowdown. I’m the guy doing the final release project and handling the game installers and the like. I’m also dealing with quality control, documentation, and making sure all the legals are in place. I’ve been in the middle of creating a release tool since about the end of April which has been holding up part of the team. I’m hoping to have it spitting out our final project framework by the end of this week though (knock on wood) and then everybody can start building from there. After that it will be mostly everyone integrating our previous work project into the enclosing one. This tool may be released in the future to other developers or just to our fans wanting to learn about how parts of the project were accomplished.

I am in full concurrence with Camren here. Wish I had backed this one now but plan to get it when widely available based on what I’ve been seeing here on MOP. The itch that CoX used to scratch is lacking attention lately and Ship here seems to be the furthest along these days so interest is seriously piqued.

This is City of Titans, actually. Ship of Heroes is another, unaffiliated project.

Doh! I got it backwards sorry! I actually did back City of Titans, in fact we got an update not that long ago from you guys. June 28th, project update 217 in fact about control mechanics.

Yep, I had the same feeling when I watched it. It seems they are getting better at making these videos.
