Blade & Soul’s False Idols update includes two endgame raids

Among the highlights of Blade & Soul’s upcoming False Idols update are two raid dungeons for endgamers to explore. NCsoft’s lightly previewed both in its most recent dev blog on the game.

“Everyone in the Earthen Realm knows of the vengeful Grand Celestial Emperor’s formidable clockwork guardians that lurk within Nightfall Sanctuary. As his last, dying command, the Grand Celestial Emperor ordered two of his living idols to exact his demands for fear and respect from his people, even after his body turned to ash. Years have passed and no one has paid tribute in some time. Activated by the Kuranos Cube, the Barrier Keeper and Templar will now be seeking restitution—in blood. Focus your chi and prepare to meet the challenge!”

Both raids are for 12-man level 55/Hongmoon 12 teams on a weekly Wednesday refresh timer, gated by the players’ having completed Emperor’s Tomb chapter 5. “Like the automatons that have come before them, The Barrier Keeper and The Templar resemble the Nightfall Sanctuary bosses, The Peacekeeper and The Shield Bearer, with each guardian residing in their own dungeon—the Hall of the Keeper and the Hall of the Templar,” says the studio. “Though these two raid bosses are not as formidable as their Nightfall Sanctuary counterparts, they are not to be taken lightly.” The updated launches on July 25th!

I really wanted to like this game but it just felt cheap. Idk how else to put it, it’s like a sweet mountain bike you bought at walmart.

Well, there is a method to the madness of adding yet another 2 raids. Lol.

Let me explain. These are single boss raids and the difficulty is on par for most players and not just the hardcore raiders. What they have done is taken two bosses from Nightfall Sanctuary, the top tier raid in the game, and brought them out into their own instances for everyone to enjoy as a weekly. It is a great idea because it is a “raid” that non-raiders can enjoy. It isn’t the painstaking grind nor does it include the ruthless mistake free mechanics that the bosses in Nightfall demand.

And the rewards are pretty damn good for non raiders. They are top tier mats and currency which are required to further gear progression.

So, kudos to NCWest for dropping this now and well before the big update of the year. It’s not like NCWest has a choice, but I appreciate the pace of new content. Lol.

And yet, I have to say, we desperately need the content opening up the new story and the new class.

Oh, and btw, the False Idols even associated with this content drops is really great. I will allow you to upgrade your pet for increased power and defense.
