WoW’s Battle for Azeroth: Secret quests, island rewards, bug fixes, and cinematic tomfoolery

Done everything already in Battle for Azeroth? Oh, you lie, but when you are done, you might want to keep your eye out for a super-secret quest line that Blizzard confirmed exists somewhere in this new World of Warcraft expansion.

The studio also incentivized the new island expedition mode by saying, “There are so many things in the rewards bucket that chances are, you’re gonna get something today, which makes it pretty exciting for your first 300 islands or so.”

Meanwhile as everyone is in the fun trenches of the leveling process, you might want to be aware of a cinematic bug that kept some players from seeing an intro cutscene. Also, Blizzard has been hotfixing some minor issues as the week’s progressed, so hopefully that’s leading to a smoother experience.

And while the expansion’s first raid is not yet open for business, the community is already figuring out the fastest way to prepare for the new endgame. Finally, Blizzard put together a cinematic supercut for your continued hype:

I have heard that reports from people I know playing that you can one shot Mobs in the new expansion , is that true ?

I did think about going back because I had heard that Blizzard where endeavoring to bring some challenge to the game but this sounds like more of the same easy mode gameplay .

I really don’t want to feel like Superman in a world without Kryptonite .

One shot? Not more so than it’s been for a while as far as leveling up goes. You might get a lucky crit on a normal mob with a high damage ability, perhaps, and there’s a some minor mobs that are designed to be killed in one shot. But for the most part, you’ll need to give them a few good whacks based on my experience leveling to 120 yesterday.

That said, if you’re expecting challenge in WoW, you will find it in the same places as the previous expansion: mainly in higher level Mythic+ keystone dungeons and higher difficulty settings in raids. If you want a leveling process that’s more challenging, you’ll need to look elsewhere.

Thanks that’s pretty much confirmed what I though . I think I will try Project Gorgon instead .

In a number of ways, in PG if you’re not prepared, you’ll be in trouble.

Not completely correct. Did you forget island hopping? Where the mobs range from normal to mythic.

At the time of my previous post, I had not done an island expedition yet. (I leveled straight to 120 and ignored the War Campaign necessary to even unlock islands until then.) Even now, I haven’t done enough of them to form a solid opinion. So far, there’s aspects I like; there’s aspects I’m a bit more circumspect about. But in any case, the ones I’ve done on normal difficulty so far have been a cakewalk. I’ll probably try some higher difficulty ones today since my iLevel should be high enough to queue for those now.

If you had legendaries and the 210+ WQ gear from Darkshore (or raid gear) then early on mobs died pretty quickly.

By 115 a lot of people in chat I saw were noticing a distinct drop in power and increase in time to kill. I noticed myself on my warlock, along with the fact my tank pet started actually taking quite a bit of damage in multi-mob fights. So yeah while I wouldn’t call it challenging, as the game was *never* challenging in combat, you’re not exactly Superman.

I thought I may have been misremembering whether the combat was harder back in vanilla so I tried the Kronos server a while back and if that is a true representation of the difficulty of the combat 13 years ago then it was once reasonably challenging to kill mobs . I intend to play the official vanilla servers when they release so maybe it will be more easy to compare the current to the classic .

IronSalamander8 .

I’ve found a ton of sidequests in Nazmir alone (my first zone selection) and I haven’t even finished the zone yet. I love being rewarded for my explorer nature like that.

…I am beginning to agree that this maybe the most ADHD expansion yet. I supposed to be aiding help in the main quest line some sea cult in distress, for example. But ended up on some bee farm gone wrong for hours rescuing it’s survivors instead. #NoNotTheBees

Oh, do not dismiss the bees. You might think they’re just a distraction, but when those buzzing mennaces swarm your pigtails, you will know who the true evil in the world of Azeroth is!

That might bee where you get the new bee mount. https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20767567455
