Warframe’s latest player event, the Pyrus Project, picks up a plot thread from 2014

Fancy a big construction project in Warframe? Good because that’s exactly what this week’s update and ongoing event entails. It’s called the Pyrus Project. As MOP reader sophiskiai reminded us, four of the game’s original social hubs were destroyed during a major game event begun at the tail end of 2014. Now players will be rebuilding the Strata Relay, all these years later, as part of this project.

“Almost four years ago, Vay Hek launched an unprecedented attack on our Relays. We defeated his Fomorians, but not before three of our Relays were destroyed. Now it’s time to rebuild. Cressa Tal and Steel Meridian are marshaling the reconstruction efforts. Tal is in dire need of valuable resources to rebuild the Strata Relay on Earth. Find them, deliver them, and she will reward you for your efforts. Be warned: Sargas Ruk and the Grineer will not make things easy for you, Tenno. Show them that we will not be intimidated.”

Expect to be running around collecting essences to contribute, crafting components, smashing baddies, and completing dailies to get the station rebuilt. Get to work, Tenno!

DE knows how to keep it’s players busy. I have so much to catch up on after rarely/not playing for three years. I’ll log into to do this or that and end up chasing specters, rebuilding relays… love it!

I was there for the event in 2014, surprised they waited till i started playing again to rebuild, thanks Space Mom.

It’s great that new players on PC will soon have access to a social hub on the first planet (as PS4 players already do), and that newish players only need access as far as Mars (for some of the resources) to take part in the event – as Alex says, probably the trickiest part for newer players will be the Simaris synthesis hunt, which MJ has coincidentally been looking into on some of her recent streams. Though I’ve also seen a few taken down by the Grustrag 3 fights!

You get access to the new relay as soon as you finish your contributions and complete a short mission. It has a slightly different layout and although the project was led by the Steel Meridian syndicate its aesthetic is strongly themed by their allies the Red Veil syndicate, as can be seen from the header image. What I found particularly cool is that some NPCs from both Cetus and Fortuna are hanging around the halls, which I think is our first look at the Fortuna cyborgs in game :)

I’m so bummed that I’m away from my gaming PC for the whole duration of this event. :( Hopefully, it’ll get a re-run later on like some of the other events do.

I don’t even know what the rewards are other than a warm sense of goodwill for helping rebuild the station. I’m going to be away during a Baro Ki Teer visit (next weekend) and that’s bumming me out!

You get a Noggle, a new Pistol (secondary Sybaris, aesthetically), a Pistol Riven, and a Liset skin.

One relay strut to go.

Well we have another 3 relays to rebuild after this one :)

What would be really cool is if each relay is rebuilt by a different Syndicate and gets a different visual theme!

Doubt that Suda would get her own, given that Simaris is already so prominent in game. And…I am not sure I would want to go on the Red Veil station. I bet the Perrin Sequence station would be very fun though!

Like the sounds of that.

All in all it’s not too bad, grind-wise. There’s a LOT of sites where the drops can be found so you won’t get bored farming one place if you don’t want to. Probably the part that some more junior players will have is completing the Simaris synthesis target. (Luckily, I had 3/4 already done when the event started so only needed one more for turnin.) And I probably got the Grustrag after 5 runs.

The funniest part is that some very inappropriate targets can be flagged as Carriers for one the drops. So, you can get Nox Carriers that explode without dropping anything. And the Jordas Golem can apparently become a Carrier as well…

That’s funny you mention it, because I had the same thing happen to me with an Infested Bomb Dude (the ones who run up to you and detonate) yesterday! Got goop all over my frame, and no drop.

Thankfully the drops happen on nearly every mission I’ve been on, and sometimes give you x2 or x3, so I should be finished up soon.

The amount that drops depends on the planet I believe. Cetus always gave me 3 for example.

I don’t know why but i was waiting for a drop from the G3? lol

I killed them at least a half dozen times or more over 14 runs. Councilor Vay Hek himself even sent me an email to cool it, lol.
