PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has had at least a million concurrent players for a year

For all the jokes about another game eating its chicken dinner, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is still doing quite well for itself on Steam. The title has just hit a milestone by having at least one million concurrent players on Steam every day for an entire year, 365 days. That’s a whole lot of people blowing one another up for an entire year, but it means the title is still the most popular game on Steam.

Of course, the record is a near thing, as the game was only barely above one million as recently as September 5th. It’s still a massive rush of popularity, but the histogram of concurrency shows that it’s not as popular as it once was. However, it did just hit a year of concurrency not dropping below a million, so it’s important to remember that “less popular” is not a synonym for “unpopular.”

I think this game has served its historical purpose in wake of BO4 and Ring of Elysium.

Haven’t tried PUBG or Fortnite, and no desire to either? All i read is how popular they are. Yet somehow, i honestly feel like i’m not missing much?

Often we see gamers put out there that if you’re not number one then your game has somehow failed and will shutter soon.
People have been talking about PubG closing down because fortnite came along
PubG will be fine.
I see this a lot with games like HOTS which seems ot be doing very well but people think the sky is falling – its not LOL

For a year. A freaking year?

That is impressive, no matter who you are.
