Pokemon Go concludes Global Research Challenge with Ultra Bonus Event

Over the past few months, Pokemon Go players have been hard at work assisting Professor Willow with his Global Research Challenge, which is now drawing to a conclusion that will culminate with “a special Ultra Bonus Event.” That’s way better than a normal bonus event, you know. The Ultra Bonus Event is a three-parter: First, on September 13th, players will be able to encounter the original legendary birds — Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres — in raid battles, and they may even appear in their super-rare shiny forms. In addition, Pokemon originally from the Kanto region (i.e., the original 150) will appear more frequently in world encounters and raid battles until September 30th.

Secondly, beginning on September 20th, Mewtwo will appear in raid battles for the very first time. Previously limited only to players lucky enough to receive invitations to EX Raids, Mewtwo will show up in standard raids until October 23rd, giving players over a month to capture the legendary psychic-type Pokemon. And last, but certainly not least, until the end of September, players will be able to hatch region-exclusive Pokemon Farfetch’d, Kangaskhan, Mr. Mime, and Tauros from 7-km eggs. Make sure you’re prepared for this special event by checking out our own Andrew Ross’s Massively On The Go column, which is full of helpful tips and guides for newbies and veterans alike.
