World of Warcraft’s latest hotfix adjusts all the balance

Oh, look, more of this.

The latest patch for World of Warcraft has judged the damage of many specs and found it to be either too high or too low. So the developers have unleashed their greatest tool: The 5% adjustment. Are you a Feral Druid? You get a 5% increase across the board. Are you a Beast Mastery Hunter or Outlaw Rogue? You get a 5% decrease across the board. Are you a Retribution Paladin? You are not on this list, so you may remain in peace, but one day the flat damage adjustment shall toll for thee.

The hotfix also features some PvP adjustments which further decrease Beast Mastery potency along with other balance aspects, so most Beast Mastery players will probably need to curl up with their pet for comfort at this point. (This time they’re joined by Arms Warriors.) And now, with these changes, everything will be balanced forever and we can all go home. Praise to the 5% adjustment.

There’s an easy way to stop this cycle. Stop crossing the streams.

Isolate PvE and PvP mechanics so adjustments to one have no effect on the other. This isn’t rocket science. We all know the constant nerf bat swinging is to appease the PvP people who seem to think 1 vs 1 combat is all anyone should care about.

This is all for Mythic raiding. PvP damage already gets balanced separately. Has been this way for quite some time.

Lazy and Clueless should be this dev team’s codename…

wow, an average 30% nerf to my main Arms warrior in PVP. that’ll teach me for being average in RBGs……

Oh phew, my Arms Warrior main escaped unscathed (not a PvPer). By the same token, I feel like my Fury alt should have had a buff sandwich. Oh well.

Isn’t doing blanket nerfs/buffs usually disastrous? It at least seems very lazy.

All of Blizzards buffs/nerfs always work exactly as they intended with no mistakes or disasters or anything of the sort, no sirree Bob, nothing to see here, move along, yep everything’s going just a-ok.

Not really. It scales badly though, just means they need to redo it next gear tier.

Im convinced blizzards data isnt the same combat data that players are tracking.

Survival out damages Beast Mastery in every test run by players, but BM gets the nerf?

Im willing to be there would be a LOT fewer upset people when it comes to nerfs, if blizzard simply released its data they had concerning how each class is performing.

Ok, so beast mastery 5% less damage in PVE? why? if it was PVP then fine but why in PVE?

BM got a slew of nerfs specific to PvP as well.

Dire Beast: Basilisk now has a 60 Focus cost.
Dire Beast: Basilisk damage reduced by 30%.
Hunter Pet Basic Attack damage (Smack, Bite, and Claw) reduced by 30%.
Aspect of the Beast increases the damage of your pets by 20%, down from 30%.
Bestial Wrath increases the damage of you and your pet by 20%, down from 25%.

Yeah i know, i don’t PVP so i can’t care about PVP nerfs, i play mostly solo, i play hunter for that, so 5% less damage stinks, not a big deal but annoying.

Because they are currently top tier and all top tier builds got shifted down for balance?

That going to affect the US? Seriously asking, I haven’t paid much attention to all the hoopla (read: ridiculousness) around it.
