Blade & Soul previews its Korean winter update with a new trailer

Pictured: Not actually winter, probably.

The downside of games with asymmetric worldwide updates is that if you’re not in the region getting updated first, you can feel a bit left out. Case in point, it’s easy for Blade & Soul players to feel out in the cold when you look at the trailer for the big winter update in Korea coming soon. But the bright side is that you can start getting excited about things like the Lyn Warden class option arriving in the game now instead of waiting until it’s formally announced for a future patch in North America.

Other upcoming changes include awakenings for all of the game’s classes, new dungeons in both 6-player and 12-player varieties, and of course a multitude of new costumes to try out. Check out the full update trailer just below and get ready to start being excited about the content arriving… eventually. It’s all slated as a winter update for Korea, after all, it’s not even winter yet. Patience.

I seem to remember someone from MOP’s comment section has told me that it would not be logical to have a Lyn playing around with large blades thus the race shall not have the Warden class… Don’t remember who that was but can you please tell me that UE4 update will happen before end of year 2018 so I can get my hopes up?

Heh. I can tell you the new engine will drop before Christmas but… I think you would call me a liar in December.

The good news is that Wardens were tested in a new engine environment. The test footage was from UE4 screen caps. So it is coming right along.

Spring of next year is my guess, but I suppose that depends on a great many things.

Nice update MOP. I have not even seen this and I’m knee deep in BnS week to week.

So a few thoughts.

Uta was right! Not only is it possible to have a Lyn Warden, but there is one coming up! Wow, that is awesome. A cute and cuddly little Lyn wielding a giant and devastating sword? Yes, please!

The awakened abilities have been discussed quite a bit but this is the first vid that I have seen with examples. Do summoners get a giant cat? WTF? Yes, please!

This vid featured the Blade and Soul World championships which just wrapped up in Korea. I proud to say that both EU and the Americas had a great showing. While neither won, they are very competitive considering that the other APAC countries have a 3 to 4-year head start on them. It is crazy because I never thought I’d be an Esport fan, but I’m proud of our region.

So, the future bright. But there is one more reason to be excited about the future. The game engine is getting an upgrade in the coming year. No, not just the client, the entire game. The Unreal 4 engine is currently in dev and they plan on a rollout early next year.

Let there be no doubt, Blade & Soul is in for the long haul. And I plan to be on board for the ride. Lol.

You can’t currently make a Lyn warden. Maybe with Wednesday’s maintenance patch?

O.O !!!!

*Pigtails suddenly passes out*

…I think I am going to have to put on hold that grind to get the Dark Iron Dwarf option available for my toon roller page, WoW! O.o

(BTW, and not to knock a gift horse in the mouth…why the sudden change of mind on this? I mean, I thought the devs for this game where against having small races carrying/using ridiculously oversized weapons. Was this way of NC making it up for killing off WildStar? o.O )

It was definitely pressuring from players. Players love the Lyn class. At the moment it is the most unique. And I think, given the longterm plans NC has for this game, they want to keep players coming back.

Lyns: Blade Dancer, Force Master, Summoner (Lyn only), Warlock, Warden.
