The folks at Nexon are gearing up for the imminent launch of MapleStory 2, the sequel to the studio’s popular free-to-play sidescrolling, platforming beat-’em-up MapleStory. Right now, players can go ahead and download the game via Nexon’s launcher — it’s not currently available on Steam, though it may show up there “at some point in the future” — and reserve their character names by creating a character in Mushking Royale. Mushking Royale, for those not in the know, is a new battle royale-inspired PvP mode coming with MapleStory 2, and players can currently preview it as part of its pre-season event.

Then, on September 24th, Nexon will be holding a launch registration event, which will include “exclusive prizes for those that sign up.” Head start for the players who have purchased MapleStory 2 founder’s packs will begin on October 1st, and then the game will officially launch for everyone on October 10th. The game’s launch willalso coincide with a “massive update . . ., increasing the level cap to Lv. 60, introducing Karkar Island with new monsters to defeat and dungeons to explore, and introducing the brand new Runeblade class.”

I’ve got my character created and name reserved, ready for headstart :) I’m really looking forward this one.

Had hopes this game would get a better control scheme than it has. Something like Diablo or PoE since its all top down.

It plays really well with a controller, but mouse&keyboard is preeetty wonky.
Especially the original control scheme with the damn arrow keys.

If they release the game on PC, and there is a Mouse and Keyboard control scheme, then they should make sure that control scheme is as good as possible, and in fact it should be the default one, the controller one should be the second in focus.

Oh, the game starts with mouse&keyboard as default. Two different versions, even.

The problem being that it’s a Maplestory-like control scheme, straight out of the 90’…

My thoughts exactly!!!

I quit after 40 minutes, because the controls suck. I suggested it on the forums, but if your comment is regarding the latest state of the game, then this is disappointing.
