Neverwinter issues a ban wave in response to a well-known exploit

Doot doot?

Sometimes bugs and exploits can take a while to get yanked. Neverwinter had one on consoles that was known about back on September 12th, with all players informed at that time that the staff knew about this exploit (as did most of the community), and that it was going to be fixed while those using it would be punished. It appears that the “punish” time has arrived, and no shortage of players are pretty unhappy to now find themselves banned due to using the exploit.

The general argument against banning these players is that the Barovia hunt exploit in question was well-known and thus everyone was doing it, and it took a while to fix so it shouldn’t carry penalties. There aren’t many official explanations of why certain players appear to have been punished more severely than others, to boot. We hope that if you play on console you yourself were not using exploits because otherwise the ban train does indeed appear to be rolling in full force.
