Cryptic’s Magic: The Gathering MMO is still happening, apparently

Remember how Cryptic was making an MMO based on Wizards of the Coast’s hugely popular CCG Magic: The Gathering? No? Well, we can’t exactly blame you, considering the fact that we haven’t heard much more than a single peep about it since it was first announced over a year ago. Well, that hasn’t exactly changed — we still don’t know any more about it than we did last year — but it does look like the project is still underway, at the very least.

According to a recent article published by Gamasutra, Cryptic Studios has listed a number of job postings seeking new team members to work on the enigmatic MMO. Among the postings are listings for a character artist and an environment artist, which would seem to suggest that the game is still fairly early in development, though of course it’s impossible to know for sure. It’s not much, but at least it’s something, and hopefully MTG fans will be able to fulfill their dreams of stepping into the shoes of a proper Planeswalker in the Magic universe… eventually.
