WoW Classic will be playable at BlizzCon – and also with a virtual ticket

Hey remember how on yesterday’s podcast we were speculating on what big news World of Warcraft might have for BlizzCon, now that Blizzard’s already dropped its big Tides of Vengeance bomb? Maybe it’ll be WoW Classic, we said – you know, the vanilla/legacy WoW experience Blizzard said for years it would never do but relented on last BlizzCon? Nah, probably not. Too soon, right?

But we shoulda stuck to our instincts! Blizzard announced today that we’ll be able to try WoW Classic at BlizzCon itself – but also at home in our pajamas, as long as we shell out $50 for the virtual ticket.

Well BlizzCon just got a whole lot more interesting.

Update
Oh, hey, there was more. The landing page includes a basic overview of what’s coming for WoW at the event and reiterates the plan to let virtual/real ticket holders check out WoW Classic, as well as promises a full explanation of how development is going at BlizzCon. It sounds as if there will be a pair of zones, one per faction, to play around in during this demo phase, which will last to November 8th.

Plus, new loot. People are super grumpy about this loot compared to last year’s loot, which included a mount.
