PlanetSide 2 Producer Nick Silva addresses Halloween event connection issues

Last week, Daybreak Games updated PlanetSide 2 with its Halloween event, Nanite of the Living Dead V: Seeds of Terror, but unfortunately, not everything went according to plan. Soon after the update went live, players began reporting that they were having trouble connecting to the game or were getting routinely disconnected. In light of the commotion this caused, Producer Nick Silva has posted a new producer’s letter to address the issues and let players know what’s going on behind the scenes.

According to the post, it initially took the team “several days” to identify the source of the connection issues, but the devs have managed to poinpoint the cause as “a specific type network error generated by certain client setups.” They have a “speculative patch” prepared, Silva writes, “but there are some ongoing complications that are currently preventing us from deploying any fixes to Live servers.” The team plans to deploy the patch as soon as possible and will keep players posted on the progress.

To make up for the inconvenience that players have been caused, Daybreak Games is going to be extending the game’s Halloween event to run through November 11th. In addition, the devs are working with the Customer Service team “to grant month long boosts and other make-goods to the players that have been affected by this issue.” And to top it off, the devs will be running a Double XP week from October 22nd to October 26th, which will hopefully allow players to make up for the experience they’ve missed out on.
