The Daily Grind: Which MMO character title do you proudly wear?

I’m not a title guy in MMOs. I understand that they’re a small outlet for personal expression and something else to chase, but when people look at me, I want them to see my name. And then say my name. SAY MY NAME WHAT IS MY NAME.

Ahem.

But if running around MMOs has taught me anything, it’s that plenty of players love decorating their headspace with a good title. Maybe it’s an ironic statement or a mission statement of achievement. Perhaps it compliments their personality. I suspect that there are quite a few people who will only select a title based on the difficulty of obtaining it or its overall rarity.

Which MMO title do you proudly wear and why did you pick that?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

Career Officer in STO and Founder in SWTOR. Only ones I ever really cared about and always wore once I had them.

First Seargent, a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away… On a world called Azeroth. I chose that title initially because I earned it through PVP victories, and then later because it had become a “legacy” title and was listed as a feather of strength.

I liked that, the exclusivity of it. But later the rank was added back in, and a few expansions later playstyle and role complexity had been watered down so much that I no longer played my main that had the title anyway.

Then classes were watered down further and homogenized, and I could no longer play with the weapons I preferred, so now I don’t play that game at all.

Now I play ESO, with nameplates turned off, so I don’t really care about my titles, now it’s more about unique costume combinations!

of the Black Harvest. That fight was HARD. Many wipes! Much rage!

In BDO, there are special titles for having gotten the last hit on a world boss, so effectively having dealt the death blow. My favorite of these is “KUTAAAAAANG!”, thought I think I have most of them at this point

My favorite title in MMO history will always be Lord of Streams in LOTRO for maxing out the basically forgotten fishing/hobby system in it.

That title takes on new meaning these days with game steamers!

My play style does not generate sexy titles for the most part. That may be why I really don’t care about titles. I am too busy discovering the world and learning about all the game mechanics. I sort of plod through games just enjoying the experience. All I know is that if they ever awarded me a “Plodder” title I would wear it with pride.

I used to run Dragonslayer on my character since it nicely tied into his theme. Other one I used a bunch was Grand Marshal and Lady of War on my other 2 characters, since it also fitted them thematically. Otherwise just no title is fine for me, or at least beats running non-matching or really common one.

I usually turn titles off, but in LotRO I liked Master Blaster for my Lore-master, acquired by setting off a ton of fireworks.
