LOTRO eyes Beornings for a revamp and breaks down giant invisible walls

Good news for Beorning players in Lord of the Rings Online: You look like you are due for some class love from the developers. Standing Stone Games said on the official forums that it is prepping a revamp for the shape-shifting class, although most of the changes will be less radical and more quality-of-life improvements.

“Beornings are fairly effective statistically speaking,” said the class developer. “Their DPS tends to be solid, if not monumental, their survivability is pretty good, and they can serve in groups as fairly effective members. They don’t generally stand out of the crowd in any one way, but being something of a hybrid class that’s sort of to be expected. So my main focus is going to be QoL improvements — making the class play more smoothly, fixing up outdated or lame skills, and trying to make them generally more fun to play. For some value of the word ‘fun.'”

The team also is pushing out a small patch today that mainly fixes a few giant invisible walls that were plaguing Lone-lands questers, nerfs low-level Lore-master DPS, and adjusts the challenge levels in Angmar.

Is the meme written in the language of Mordor, do I have to throw my phone in the fire to see it?

Haha, I had to stare at it for a full minute.

I would like to see the shape shifting feature changed to a berserk mode, the shape shifting feels awkward, I would rather you could maintain the human form and just allow us to use “Berserk” like attacks (think the bear form attacks but useable in human form once a threshold is reached), more similar to how the champion builds and spends fervour.

Wouldn’t that just be a red line champion, its even called The Berserker so I feel that is a clue :p The thing that makes the whole class different is the bear form and you want to take it away, um that would be a NOPE from me personally.

One of the comments from the dev (Vastin) who is doing this pass indicate that one of the aims is to make things less awkward and to make it play more smoothly, how successful he will be time will tell I guess :-)

Adjustments to the Lone Lands and Angmar… sounds like they’re doing a bit of last minute housekeeping before the Legendary Server arrives.

Also I know it’s entirely non-canon but I’d love to see a wolf-form trait line. Wolves > Bears, every time.

Glad to hear this, got my beorning into the high 30’s before I just kind of lost interest. Like the dev said, nothing wrong with it as such, just a bit lackluster to play.

Afaik Warden is need of some revision, as I just returned to my Warden and as I’m quite into it, Warden buffs are a clear priority.

Beorning is now the main class that I play in lotro so please please please don’t screw them up anymore than you already did before ignoring them until now.

I have been wanting this since they announced their intention to look at bears again several months ago but now they are looking at it my anxiety that they will screw it up just spiked. Hoping for the best while preparing for the worst /sigh

Oh yeah if you have the time bear travel form but please just concentrate on not screwing them up first and foremost, thanks.
