Final Fantasy XIV’s 4.45 patch is live with Eureka Pyros and the further adventures of Hildibrand

Let’s be blunt: People did not like Eureka Pagos. But Final Fantasy XIV’s patch 4.45, live today, pushes the storyline along with role-agnostic customizations that might appeal to grumpy players within Eureka specifically.

“Today’s update introduces the next chapter of The Forbidden Land of Eureka, along with further adventures of everyone’s favorite inspector extraordinaire, Hildibrand. Patch 4.45 brings The Forbidden Land, Eureka Pyros to the world of Hydaelyn. As the intrepid explorers continue their journey to reach the headquarters of the Students of Baldesion at the center of the isle, players will uncover a network of caves hidden within the massive mountains, where frozen tundra gives way to smoldering lava. Eorzeans will also reunite with detective Hildibrand once more, as the hunt for a legendary sword of great power continues.”

Notably, we’re just 10 days away from Final Fantasy XIV’s Fan Festival in Las Vegas, at which our own Eliot Lefebvre will be representing MOP.

Eww, more Eureka crap… Come on now. At least give more social features (player-performed music improvement so translating .midi files and performing them as a full band would be much easier, some new mini-games, some new social events/contests, much more emotes usable for any kind of RP) for people who are not interested in Eureka but who still want to socialize with each other…

and now lets hope they are done with Eureka forever. It killed player retention in my circles and those that stuck with it in hopes of a good relic are finding out today its very likely thats not the case with random stat rolls. Meanwhile i did a 6 minute Omega fight and have one of the best RDM weapons for the rest of the expansion. SB on the whole has been bleeding interest and players so they need to get back to its core and save the experiments for things less intended to be the supportive pillar of ‘just do this in content lulls’ that the majority seems to hate like Eureka.

Nope there is one more map to come that will be the finish of the storyline.

That’s not only in your circles, I’ve noticed a huge drop in active players during last few months and I doubt that this new patch will encourage many of them to log back in.

Yeah it’s like they’ve basically been doing everything lackluster in comparison to Heavensward. Each patch brings in stuff that’s maybe fun for a few weeks/month but then goes back to the same old grind that gets tiring.

Also their obsession with making relic weapons stupidly difficult grinds doesn’t make much sense to me. Especially when they’re usually not even the most high end weapons, and the only one that might be worth it at the end of the day is the very final upgrade.

Oof, that super cute hairstyle in the last picture is only available in Eureka, and I haven’t really started the first bit. I do want to eventually see the storyline, but if the hairstyle book goes to reasonable market board prices, I might just buy it off someone else. That’s just the cost of looking good!
