Blade & Soul kicks off the Golden Harvest Festival today

Well, this is... sort of like Thanksgiving.

It’s time for players in Blade & Soul to face the greatest challenge yet: staying awake after eating enough food in-game to kill a small horse. Yes, the Golden Harvest Festival has arrived again, and the biggest rewards of the event are locked behind creating a Harvest Feast. Successfully craft the Feast to get the chests, which ultimately allow you a shot at the Promise Keeper costume set. It’s a truly bountiful harvest, and also truly replete with caloric intake.

Of course, the patch which turns on the festival also contains some other updates for the game, including serious changes to Blackstone and Silver Scale fragments (and a conversion of all existing fragments to expired versions you’ll need to cash in for two fragments apiece). Pristine Oil has been similarly expired, with changes to the updated item’s functionality across the game. Read up on the full list of changes to keep aware of what’s happening, and get all of the eating you want to do in the event done before December 5th when you simply can’t eat another bite. Because the event will be over, see.

Still can’t get this game to work. I played it sporadically at launch and took a while off and have reinstalled it a few times in the past few months and never got it to start up. Just always get a black screen a shutdown. Looking around the net it is an issue that has been around for ages too.

It is a bummer because I remember the combat system was amazing but I feel like it really doesn’t want me to try it again. It doesn’t bode well when this kind of an issue goes unresolved for so long and now they appear to be gutting events too. I guess they are hoping to not-so-subtly push people towards the new titles in the B&S universe? /shrug

I think I know the issue you are dealing with. It has happened sporadially from patch to patch. There is no excuse for it as you mention.

Two options should you want to try again. One is to run it in 32 bit mode. You see they went to a 64 bit client and form some people that crappy Xincode anticheat SW they use fails to initialize and the game doesn’t launch.

Running the game using the 32 bit client should work. Just go to the launcher, the thin little box that you see after a failed launch, click on settings and then select 32 bit. The draw back is that you are running at 32 bit can’t address any memory beyond 8 gigs. The result is that at times, especially when running in large groups or very populated areas the game will crash as it runs out of memory. It doesn’t happen often, but it will happen.

The other is using third party software to force the 64 bit client to run. I can pass you a link to a youtube showing you how to do this. This option will work and you will no longer have memory issues. But, because you are using third party SW, it is not advised by NCsoft. If you would like to see the youtube vid let me know and I will send you the link.

I appreciate the offer on the 3rd party software but I’m just not comfortable with that. I will give the 32-bit client a shot though. I miss that combat, nothing really like it out there right now. Thanks for the heads up on that!

No problem. I understand.

I’m lazy. So I’m just going to paste what I posted on Blade & Soul’s youtube stream.

It’s no D4 debacle, but it is frustrating. And yes, as a loyal Blade and Soul customer, I’m feeling a little neglected at the moment. (A Lyn Warden over the holidays might cure what ails me.)

What happened? Did we go from the best event in the history of the game bringing Weapons, Souls, and Pet Auras up to par, to the worst event to date?

Last years Harvest Festival was great. Using alts, crafting and dailies most players got what they wanted and then some. This year, you are adding the solo dungeons into the mix but on top of the dailies. So, that means more grind, more player exclusion and more frustration for those willing to participate.

This coupled with the Awakenings pushback is going to make for a bad winter in BnS. It is going to hurt as many will just look elsewhere for their holiday gaming. And some will not be back until the late spring or early summer of next year if at all.
