Star Citizen is delaying quite a bit of alpha 3.4 into 3.5 to make its December goal – including female toons

Cloud Imperium’s Sandi Gardiner and Chris Roberts are back with another episode of Star Citizen’s Around the Verse – with good news and bad news. The good news is that alpha 3.3 – the stable version – is officially going live today, with 3.35 (including Hurston and Lorville) queued up behind it. “The most important thing is that the Object Container Streaming technology is now stable enough for us to go live, and that’s a big, big thing as we’ve been working on that for well over a year,” he explains.

The bad news – and you can probably see this coming already – is that some of the content planned for 3.4 is being pushed off into 3.5. Without the delay of specific content, nothing would be ready to show before the December holidays.

“Now, we’re going to have the Hurston Business District in 3.4, so we’re making sure that that’s going to be in and polished. We’re going to do a lot more work and improvements on the FOIP and VOIP stuff. The other ships that we had scheduled for coming in for 3.4 will be in 3.4 as well because it’s much easier to bring a ship, or a weapon, or a gun across. But, you’ll know in the roadmap that’s going to be updated tomorrow what has moved and what hasn’t moved.”

CIG is also delaying the female player character (Sandi Gardiner does not look pleased). According to Roberts, the issue there is the difference in skeletons between male and female characters, which requires more tech work on clothing and animations that simple isn’t finished.

The rest of the episode focuses on cloud generation, and you can watch it below.
