Torchlight Frontiers’s first closed alpha test will start November 16th

November is going to be a milestone month for Echtra Games’s upcoming action-RPG Torchlight Frontiers, as the studio has announced that the game’s first closed alpha test will be commencing on Friday, November 16th. According to the official announcement, alpha invites to registered members next week, so if you want a shot at getting in, there’s still time to sign up.

This phase of alpha testing will be primarily serving as a technical test for the game, meaning that testers should expect to be focused on reporting bugs, providing feedback, and trying their absolute best to break the servers in every possible way. As this is Torchlight Frontiers’s first-ever alpha test, things will obviously be rough and subject to plenty of change between now and launch, so there will be an NDA in place that prohibits the “sharing/capturing of visual media such as screenshots, video, and livestreaming.” Those are all the details we’ve got for now, but Echtra promises that “More details about this test and future ones will be revealed in the coming days and months.”

ARGH

what is it with the torchlight designers thinking that the haze/blur in the game is a GOOD thing.

It looks so much more colorful, crisp and clear when they zoom in.. .only, you dont play the game from this zoomed in perspective.

I really hope they have an option to disable it… just yuck.

agemyth ?

I would assume the PC version would allow you to disable those as any good PC game allows. Most people don’t notice mild depth of field and bloom effects, but I bet they can mask lower quality background assets for phones and low end PCs if they tune it right.

Remember that phones are the lead platform for this one. I mean, just look at the size of the UI :P This isn’t going to be “PC Master Race” ready in time for the upcoming alpha.

Thought the whole relic weapon sounded kind of like a bad wow-like mechanic, but this feed definitely increases my interest and excitement for the game.
