The Daily Grind: What would you do if you had godmode in your favorite MMO?

Over the holiday, one of the many amusing bug stories following Fallout 76 around was the tale of the girl who got godmode. Apparently, a player accidentally managed to get her character so bugged in the post-apoc hellscape that she couldn’t die, not even to nukes. When she begged customer support for relief, she got back an apparent form mail.

So maybe godmode isn’t that fun after all. I have certainly made use of it in single-player games – say, for getting through a rough patch to get on with a storyline or zipping through house construction or somesuch – but in an MMORPG? I’d probably be a goody two-shoes and turn myself in to the nearest GM, hoping not to get banned.

What would you do if you had godmode in your favorite MMO?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

Accidentally got this once playing WoW, I zoned into arena while on a certain quest step and it granted me unlimited instant ressurections. So I was basically unkillable. Trolled some OP arena combos for a while and got bored and moved on with the questline, losing my godmode.

I’d one shot everything, then figure out the most efficient farming routes, then buy every Legendary in GW2 (funded by selling raid tickets for people to ride shot gun while I’d one shot all the Raid Bosses). Of course I’d start to PVP because how could you not and bring despair and toxic hatred to the masses.

For the most part I would carry on playing as normal, as I don’t play for the challenge and I don’t tend to die much anyway due to always going for tanky builds.

However, I would possibly visit the current tier raids in Warcraft so I could actually see the part of the story I miss every xpac, and the veteran level dungeons in ESO to see the stories in those.

I have God mode in Miranda. Infinite money and the freelook camera are nice. Invulnerability isn’t so fun.

If I had god mode, get all the rare crafting materials, make my friends some nice items, then quit the game. Nothing would be more boring.

I would do all the raids I was never able to run just to see them.
This article reminds me of the Martin’s Fury scandal in WoW prob most known incident of this kind.

Just not use it, or if that were not an option I’d play something else?

I mean I am no fan of difficult, but I like at least some challenge.

God Mode and other associated cheats just remove any challenge and fun from content so what would be the point? Its not for me.
