Elder Scrolls Online has added a buyable snow globe house in time for winter

As a general rule, we don’t cover regular cash shop updates in MMORPGs on Massively OP, but every once in a while, a game will add something with such a cool factor that we just cannot not mention it. The Elder Scrolls Online has done just that today with the addition of the Enchanted Snow Globe Home. Yes, it’s a house that is literally inside a snow globe.

We took a quick look in-game in the video below (everybody can do that through the cash shop before buying anything), and inside, it’s just a basic medium-sized house with a whole lot of space for decorating, lots of porch, and a surprising number of doors. Maybe not surprising, though, since to really see the glassy texture of the snow globe surrounding you, you’ll have to duck outside anyway.

Interestingly, and perhaps because of its size, it counts as a “classic” home rather than the “notable” homes that can run a group well over 100 bucks. Even so, this one doesn’t come cheaply: It’ll be 4200 crowns unfurnished or 5250 furnished. How much it is in reality depends on which pack of currency you buy, but 5500 crowns right now is just about 40 bucks. Course, if you’ve been subbing for a while, you might have those kinds of crowns just sitting around for a rainy day. Or a snowy day, in this case.

That’s about 25% of my accumulated Crowns from a couple (few?) years subbing, and I’ve already a lovely estate which I’m still decorating.

Still, this would constitute an impulse-buy for which I’ve learned to give some thought before logging in immediately and buying.

Honestly, if there were more appealing outfit options in the cash shop, because there really are surprisingly few (and I do own some, already), my crown balance would instead be nil.

Can you put a snow globe house inside your snow globe house?

40$… Damn, the ESO cash shop is one of the most expensive cash shops out there now.

It’s only for cosmetics. The actual content is not that cheap and whatever actual content you pay for, you get a lot.

This is one game that is really generous. They gave the latest DLC for free in the daily rewards. Not some old DLC from 2014, the newest from 2018.

Some people can while all they want, but cosmetics being expensive means jack. Also people who never played the game are the funniest when they say how P2W it is because they heard some rant on YouTube.

If you subscribe and get the free crowns it doesn’t cost you a penny!

ArcheAge could never have such things. The aesthetics of that game are so bland. And how they allow you to build house everywhere and have three different architecture styles next to each other… such a joke. And then when all house spots are taken some people can’t even get a house even if they had the money.

In ESO every house is instanced so every player can own the same house if they wanted to.

It looks super cool from the outside, but I wish you could see the rounded glass of the snow globe from inside the house (like when you’d look out the windows), especially for that kind of money.
