BioWare touts Anthem’s story, drops Game Awards trailer

During last night’s Game Awards, while much of the news revolved around Red Dead Redemption 2 maybe winning a bit too much and WildCard’s next big thing, EA did manage to drop a new trailer for Anthem.

According to Kotaku, BioWare is all in on story for this new franchise, which is definitely something fans have been concerned about given earlier previews and press statements. It does still sound as if the driving narrative will be sectioned off from the repeatdable content, but don’t expect many non-combat options or branching narrative a la Mass Effect; mostly the you-to-NPC dialogue will “affect how these NPCs treat you.”

Worth noting is that there’s a closed alpha phase running this weekend if you were lucky enough to have signed up by Monday and then got an invite. The game is still expected to launch in February.
