Ever wonder what a World of Warcraft TV series might look like?

Steaming TV services are making every fantasy franchise under the sun these days, from Lord of the Rings to Wheel of Time. So how about World of Warcraft?

One fan made a creative petition for just this by splicing together Blizzard’s amazing cutscenes into a fun Netflix-style trailer. It’s since received some attention with the WoW community, which might be craving something a little more faithful following the mixed reception of the Warcraft movie.

“I made this for fun,” commented the creator. “This is the video I had in my head, and it’s the video I wanted to make. I’m an INCREDIBLY amateur editor, and while I’m sure I could’ve picked a different song or put in a little more effort to make everything look better, this is the finished product. Sorry it doesn’t appease to everyone, but i’m personally happy with it.”

To answer the question posed by the article title:
no.
I wasn’t impressed by the art of the MMO and the movie didn’t inspire either. I have no interest in seeing how bad a TV show of a lower budget could be.

This just made me realize that the Warcraft movie, while good, fell to some of the tropes from fantasy movies in the 80s.

I think the Warcraft movie showed if they try and emulate the cartoony nature of the characters in a live action movie it doesn’t work that well so perhaps if they offered a more realistic version of the races it might work better , but then again if they did that would it resemble Warcraft in anything but name only .

Given World of Warcraft is dropping in popularity at the moment quite considerably I have my doubts if Netflix would want to invest in a show based on it .

They didn’t try and copy the cartoony style at all, they tried to make it as realistic as possible.

The orcs still looked very cartoony to me as it did to many critics at the time of release .

I imagine a mashup of the whiniest and melodramatic parts of The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones… oh wait, that’s 99% of each of these shows…

Ehh… If Netflix or Hulu did something with the Warcraft IP, I’d rather see them avoid anything to do with anything remotely about the ‘current’ events of the game… Or the games in general. Do an ‘Animatrix’ instead, self-contained 30 minute shorts or the like, telling stories of something in the game…

Like Mankrik’s Wife. What’s up with that quest now? It’d be interesting to see what happens around him from Vanilla to now, and it’s open enough that someone could do something interesting with it.

But if a World of Warcraft/Warcraft ( in general) Netflix series happens before Jerry’s Bizarre Adventure is somehow made, there isn’t a god…

With a script brought to you by the current crop of World of Warcraft writers? Uh… yeah, that should never be a thing. I’m a bit tired of the word ‘cringe’, but it feels like invented just for this occasion.

You know, this ain’t wrong, the Tauren and the Gnomes are the only grownups in the World of Warcraft.
