World of Warcraft’s Tide of Vengeance update goes live today

15

Facing down an impatient and unsatisfied World of Warcraft community, Blizzard is firing off the biggest bullet it can this holiday season with a brand-new content update. Patch 8.1: Tides of Vengeance is live today, but it remains to be seen how much of a panacea for grumbling players it will prove to be.

The motto of this patch is “more of the same.” World of Warcraft is expanding its war campaign, bringing in a new Darkshore warfront, upgrading island expeditions, giving Dwarves and Blood Elves heritage armor, and allowing players to earn specific azerite armor.

It should be noted that the patch is rolling out in phases over the next month, so not everything is unlocking today. More of the war campaign will become available on December 18th, with Mythic Season 2 and the Battle of Dazar’alor raid coming next year on January 22nd.

I am not sure this patch will add more annoyance while supposedly taking care of the annoyances they said they’ll be taking care of. In the meantime, it doesn’t appear Blizz is wanting to deal with elephants in the room this expansion has created. /le sigh

Unfortunately, it is a “mehhh” kinda patch. I really gave this expansion a chance, even though the whole theme of it really wasnt that interesting to me (yaaaay,we have nothing else for now, so let’s fire up Alliance vs. Horde again).

I am a total altoholic… ever since Wrath, I had a stable of alts. 6 or so in Wrath, and starting with Cata, I had one char of each class at cap level. Even when an xpac wasn’t as much fun, I kept that up.
I started BFA with my shammy, leveled him, leveled my lock next. Then I leveled my old main (my druid was my main from Wrath until Legion). And I can’t even stand the thought of leveling another char.
I play this game very very casually, focusing on other games, but even playing casually, I am already tired of the two continents, the quests, the WQs, and the rep grind.

This patch maybe added some QOL changes, but there is nothing that would entice me to play more again.

It’s kinda sad, as I have been playing on and off ever since vanilla. Some xpacs weren’t that much fun, but I always came back to WOW. This time, I came back for BFA, but was bored very soon, and still am.

I still love the game for the many memories, will always fondly remember the fun I had with the guilds I was in, how much I enjoyed WOTLK in particular, but right now, it’s like the ex gf you wanted to stay friends with but feel rather uncomfortable around. =)

Night elves who complete the new Darkshore questline may earn a new custom appearance that may then be selected at barber shops throughout
Azeroth.

The singed hair and eyebrow look. :D

On a more serious note there’s a lot of quality of life improvements in this patch.
i’m gonna go against the grain here and say that these are welcome changes and I’ll be diving deep into the new stuff this week.

They are still in the “digging in” stage of development apparently. :(

Unsubbed awhile ago. Nothing in 8.1 is appealing to me. This expansion has been an absolute dud.

The video has 4.9k likes and 15k down votes. (chuckle) I’m not a fan of more Azerite crap on the gear nor do I like the Heroic persona crap. I never appreciate or enjoy how they implement the change to the UI and how the abilities work. I’ve already got a heroic persona, the character I’m playing I don’t want to play another entity.

I’m not sure how much the new content will last me, but at the very least, I may return to leveling more alts with the XP reduction.

Still months away from the new allied races sadly.

A reskin of a warfront=pass. Some cosmetic armor for slogging through leveling again=pass. upgrading island expeditions=big pass. So much content on patch day that mark my words you will be grinding wq again in about an hour of logging in. For the life of me how Ion still has a job is mind-blowing

Some cosmetic armor for slogging through leveling again=pass

only if you don’t already have a 120 in the one of the races. You don’t need to re-level from 1 again to get the armor

Was hoping this patch would turn it around for me but i just can’t find any reason to be excited for it and will continue to stay away.
