Lord of the Rings Online addresses player suggestions, basks in the glow of college class presentations

Lord of the Rings Online players collaborated recently on a list of suggestions for fixes and features in the MMO, and Standing Stone Games responded to them in a fashion. The topics addressed included favoured chest pulls, high-level instance rewards, the legendary item rework, raids, new hobbies, and stat issues. Don’t get too excited over the list, however, as most of the responses are neutral to the extreme.

In fact, the players found the responses (many of which were a mere “Thanks for the feedback”) to these topics “cold and uncaring,” which put CM Cordovan on the defensive. “The unfortunate reality of lists of questions that contain a moderate number of things that could be rewritten as suggestion statements is that they are difficult to answer in a way that satisfies the questioner,” he posted in response to the discontent over the answers.

Meanwhile, a different community in a college-level high school class studying Tolkien through LOTRO delivered end-of-semester presentations about the author, his world, and the MMO. Check them out after the break!

Great presentation :D

Regarding the questions on the forums: After all these years they still answer every pvmp question with: ” when we have time” aka never :P

Just a FYI for Justin, I’m pretty sure the Maine School of Science and Math is a high school. Nice presentation from student Leahe there in the linked video.

I don’t mind Cordovan overall, his manner can be dry and this maybe comes across as cold to some people. Community manager is a tough job, MMO players aren’t exactly known for their respectful demeanor.

They should put LOTRO’s code on Github and accept pull-requests from the community. Then all those things could be done by March, lol.

Can you please limit the amount of lootboxes people can open per week?

File this under, “uh no”.

I am not a fan of Cordovan, his position requires a certain amount of social skill and diplomacy and he repeatedly comes off as lacking in both departments.

Extremely so. His streams are so hard to watch and they’re embarrassing.

There are a lot of changes happening in lotro, many of them are needed and it’s hard when you might not play a Beorning and it’s getting changed over raids/content you enjoy that isn’t part of that.

I’m just glad they are still plugging away making the game better.
