Warframe launches its 38th ‘frame, Baruuk, with today’s Fortuna: The Profit Taker

Well now Warframe’s just having itself the best day ever, isn’t it. Not only did it take home one of the good awards from us, but it’s just launched the second chunk of its Fortuna content for PC players, complete with the new ‘frame Baruuk.

“Digital Extremes has woven fresh new missions, deeper lore, and giant robotic spiders into a dangerous web of cooperative online action with Warframe’s Fortuna: The Profit Taker, arriving today on Steam PC for free. The greedy profiteer Nef Anyo’s grip on the Orb Vallis must be loosened. That means confronting one of the Fortuna’s biggest enemies, the mechanical spider-boss, the Profit-Taker. Players itching to “go big” will engage in new missions to acquire the Archwing’s big guns for Warframes on-foot to crush the Profit-Taker with a show of cooperative, strategic force. Earn and equip the new Warframe, Baruuk, and engage in a mix of pacifism and savagery to wipe out Corpus armies; discover new animal species to tranq, trap and save more of the Orb Vallis’ cutest denizens, and collect dozens of new items including weapons, customizations, and enhancements in the newest Warframe update.”

So looking forward to this, especially after seeing Baruuk in action on the last devstream :)

But a couple of caveats on the new content – Reb posted on the forums a few days ago to say that you’ll need the max rank of standing with Solaris United before going up against the Profit-Taker, and several ranks of standing with Vox Solaris to get the parts and blueprint for Baruuk.

I really hope the heist and Orb fight give a decent number of toroids among the rewards (similar to cores from Eidolons versus cores from Vomvalysts), because otherwise farming them for Vox Solaris standing from drops and caves is going to get annoying…

I hear you about the Toroids. I have had a really hard time getting Sola and Vega toroids. Calda is easy, since the Enrichment Labs location is so often part of bounty missions and they drop frequently from fights out in front of the gate. But I have had to go solo farming at the Spaceport and the Temple of Profit to get the others, and it is HARD. Like, farming for 20 minutes will get me 2 Solas, etc. So technically doable, but whoa, solo drop rates are slow. (And I haven’t had any luck grabbing people for just plain farming.)

Yeah, the drop rate for the non-Calda toroids suuuuuuuuuuuucks. And I’ve never had one appear in a cave, despite the fact that I always run with maxed Animal Instinct.

I will NOT spend time searching caves for these things. If I come across one (I have, twice), great. If not…not gonna stress about it. Level 4 alert farming or bounty rewards for me, or nothing.

Well, I mostly go into the caves looking for fishing hotspots. It’s more like, if a toroid pops up while I’m in there, then that’s cool. But, so far, that’s never happened to me.

No matter how many times I see this Warframe’s name, I will always hear my LotRO dwarf minstrel yelling “Baruk Khazâd!”

Now that we can rename guns and melee weapons, we can can actually have our loadouts spell that out!

Primary -> Khazâd!
Secondary -> Khazâd
Melee -> ai-menu!
