Speaking of deaths and looping...

Today’s Fallout 76 hotfix is officially the game’s last update of 2018, but the folks at Bethesda are already looking ahead to 2019 in the latest Inside the Vault, which gives players a brief look at what they can expect when the new year rolls around. The next game update will be coming in “mid-January,” and it seems that it will primarily focus on implementing bug fixes, “including fixes for the Lever-Action Rifle reload animation, some perk cards,” as well as for the issue that causes robots at the Whitespring to spontaneously multiply.

In addition, the devs acknowledge that players often want to know not only what changes were made in a patch but also why those changes were made. As such, they say that “[b]eginning in 2019, patch notes will include some brief thoughts from our developers that hopefully gives the community more insight into the changes we’re making and why.”

The post also reveals that the team is working on a new game mode “where you can work together, or not, without PvP restrictions.” Players can expect to get their hands on this new game mode “sometime in the first quarter of the year.”

And last, but not least, as next week’s Inside the Vault will release on Christmas, the devs are asking players to send them their best festive screenshots from the Appalachia wastelands by posting them on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #Holiday76. The devs’ favorite entries will be featured in next week’s Inside the Vault.

This whole thing just reminds me of Fortnite. The game releases with a PVE’ish mode with building to mixed reviews, shortly therefter they drop a new ALL PVP all the time mode and ta da suddenly it is more successful than oxygen in a vaccuum.

I think they’re hoping for the same thing…sigh

I think the ONLY thing that could possibly save this game is a MASSIVE overhaul to the entire game. It’s problems are so deeply rooted that band aids and tape won’t do. This of course will never happen as Bethesda has repeatedly demonstrated how they REALLY feel about their fans by lying and cheating time and time again about Fallout 76, that infamous “Creation” Club, and other things. They won’t invest the time or resources because they simply don’t care.

Minimum effort for maximum gain is their mantra.

Plans or not, releasing a game in such a state for full price and up is reprehensible. It is fun to watch from the sidelines with large amounts of popcorn though.

I think it has more to do with the idea of saying “50% off” items that were never being sold rather than “I need that cash shop item”. That and other practices in their shop.

It seems pretty dishonest in an attempt to get people to hurry up and spend under pressure.

Until they get sensible about the Stash issue in relation to thier desire to have encumberence this game is dead to me. I’ll stick with Fo4 for my FO fix at least with that I can mod all Bethesdas stupid right out of it. ;)

(Edit: I also notice they STILL have not addressed the issue of lunch boxes found in the game’s code. Yeah. Real communicative, guys.)

They’re not going to address some lines of code that folks datamined and have 0 context on? Color me shocked. It’s almost like it’s something they aren’t able to talk about yet.

Wow. You can tell that a professional liar wrote that press release.

“We understand that sometimes the patch notes themselves aren’t enough, and you want to know why we’re making certain balance changes or adjustment. Beginning in 2019, patch notes will include some brief thoughts from our developers that hopefully gives the community more insight into the changes we’re making and why.”

The specific wording is particularly weaselly around the negative feedback on patch notes. Like when they released patch notes that in no way whatsoever even mentioned any of the nerfs they included.

Mate. The notes themselves weren’t insufficient because they didn’t include the reasoning… they were insufficient, because they weren’t fucking complete. THAT was why they got negative feedback, not because the community didn’t understand why they mentioned a bunch of bug fixes.

That careful reframing of the problem is the mark of a professional liar.

LEVER ACTION RELOAD FIX????

The change I genuinely never thought would happen. Hopefully, they port it back to FO4 the next time they have to update the EXE for Creation Club stuff.
