Tibia looks back at its major updates and events of 2018

Well, all right.

The end of the year is the ideal time to look back at the prior year and evaluate what worked and what didn’t. Tibia has had 20 years of operation by this point, and thus the development team has plenty of experience with updates landing or failing to do so; the developers have shared their insights on the past year by noting the successes in a new retrospective. The Cyclopedia map and new graphical modes were a big hit, and to the team’s surprise even the joking questions on the April Fool’s gag were appealing to players.

Of course, it wasn’t all hits; the idea behind Reaper Weapons got negative feedback and didn’t roll out, and there are still debates about respawn rates after an adjustment this year. But the game is still humming along and addressing issues, and there will no doubt be more to come in 2019. Check out the full retrospective for a view from the top of the game’s 2018 development as a whole.
