NCsoft is launching Aion: Legions of War in the west this month

NCsoft is gearing up for another western launch this month, this time for an Aion sequel on mobile dubbed Aion: Legions of War.

“NCSOFT is tapping all of its expertise to launch its first mobile RPG in the west with Aion: Legions of War on 24th January. The game puts players in the midst of an epic fantasy conflict, where a practically endless choice of party combinations, attack abilities and equipment are combined with top-quality visuals for an unparalleled RPG experience.”

The game’s been running in Korea Mexico since 2017, and it’s not specifically being touted as an MMO, in spite of the fact that Aion itself very much is; NCsoft is calling it a strategic “narrative-driven RPG that exudes depth of gameplay with MMO-level complexity.”

“As players build up their collection of heroes, they will find over a billion combinations to bring into battle across a wide range of challenges, including PvP and Guild Dungeons,” the company writes. “All of the intense action in Aion: Legions of War is presented in standard-setting high definition 3D graphics that push the limits of what’s possible on mobile devices.”

Pre-registration is already live, and yes, it’ll land on both Android and iOS here as a free-to-play title.

MMO players will recall that NCsoft also recently announced Aion 2, which will be an MMO and will again be mobile-centric.

We’ve amended our article to note that the game launched in 2017 in Mexico, not Korea. NCsoft tells us that the game is not in fact live in Korea.

Not the Aion mobile game I was hoping for, but sure I’ll give it a spin.

Imagine getting paid for crafting nutritionally empty sentences like this one….

“narrative-driven RPG that exudes depth of gameplay with MMO-level complexity.”

mmorpg on mobile is just a cash shop with autopath. No way in hell
