Now that the new year is officially here, the folks at Jagex have decided to release a new video to give RuneScape players a look at what they can expect from the game over the next four months. The devs will be kicking things off with RuneScape’s 18th birthday celebration on January 4th, which will be followed soon thereafter by the introduction of the mining and smithing skill overhauls on January 7th. With that update, mining rocks will no longer deplete, and mining and smithing tiers will be normalized so that metals will require the same level to craft as they do to wear. The overhaul will also introduce “four new basic tiers of equipment to smith” as well as tier 90 armor, which is made entirely through mining and smithing, and tier 92 armor that can be made by combining tier 90 armor with “specific PvM drops.”

February has plenty in store as well, as it will see the arrival of the “third and final installment in the elite dungeons trilogy,” the Shadow Reef. This elite dungeon will play host to three challenging bosses and “ranks of minibosses,” and those players who dare to brave the depths and emerge victorious will be able to get their hands on a variety of new rewards, including a new tier 92 two-handed crossbow. March and April will bring even more new content, including an update to the firemaking skill that will introduce buff-granting incense burners, which should give players a good reason to level the oft-neglected skill. RuneScape mobile will also continue its beta testing over the course of the coming months, and players can look forward to new features and updates as the testing progresses. For all the details on RuneScape’s plans for the first part of 2019, you can check out the full video just below.
