ZeniMax Media trademarks Deathloop for mobile games

Speaking of deaths and looping...

So here’s a nice entry for your speculation bin. ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda, has filed for a trademark for “Deathloop” under the category of online-enabled mobile software and mobile games, which means that it’s quite possibly a new game planned for Bethesda to develop and release. (It’s important to note that ZeniMax Media is not the same as ZeniMax Online Studios, which is itself a subsidiary of ZeniMax Media.) There are absolutely no other details available at this time and no official announcements, though. So speculate madly!

For those unfamiliar with the term, a “deathloop” is a state of play wherein you have either a quicksave or checkpoint that immediately kills you, resulting in a loop of reloading and immediately dying. So it’s not exactly a pleasant term to trademark, and it might just be trademarked as a potential title for future use in case someone wanted to do something with it. For now, though, you can enjoy wondering what sort of mobile title would just kill your character and then immediately do so again.
