Star Trek Online prepares for new featured episodes in Mirror of Discovery

Mirror match!

The Mirror Universe is exactly like the main universe in Star Trek Online, except it’s all evil. You might think that would provide a fairly limited set of opportunities for dramatic storytelling, but the game’s upcoming Mirror of Discovery update launching on January 23rd makes it clear that there’s still plenty to be mined out as players come face-to-face with Captain Killy of the I.S.S. Discovery. Yes, it’s the unseen figure from the show’s story who appeared to vanish in 2256, but now she’s here in 2410.

Yes, that means time travel. We’re sorry for the Janeways in the audience who try to avoid it.

Players will take part in two feature episodes that pit them against Captain Killy while trying to explore the planet she’s seeking to destroy, as well as taking part in the Omega Molecule Stabilization event returning with this update. There’s even a new Tier 6 Vulcan scout ship reward available. Add in the personal endeavors system and players will have plenty to deal with even beyond the time-traveling evil duplicate captain.

I quite enjoyed Discovery before that whole Mirror Universe thing kicked in. Stopped watching at that point. I thought the Vogons were particularly cool in it. I was really rooting for them.

I expect this to live down to my unbelievably low expectations of STO’s writing.

Most likely.

So Federation could get a Fehkiri ship on winter event when they normally dont have ships of that race and KDF will get a Vulcan ship when they dont normally have a ship of this race. To me it seems like an experiment to make unified ship and content releases in future

Event ships are a different animal than what you buy in the C-store. They’ve done this with the Bajoran ship from last year as well.

Captain Killy is honestly the ultimate manifestation of the Star Trek Alternate Universe. So funny.

Watched a couple episodes of Star Trek: Short Treks, Tilly in the cafeteria i thought was exceptionally funny when the next shift walked in. lol Star Trek: Discovery is so good, i watched all of season 1 again to prep for season 2, nine days and counting.

I really enjoy The Orville (immensely), watched that before Discovery and at first i admit wasn’t a fan of Discovery and dropped out around episode 4. Jonesing for some trek a few months later i started the series all over again, and yea hooked, like i said just finished watching the first season all over again. Only other series i watched twice was TNG.

Discovery is the only series of trek I haven’t watched multiple times. Wait, I’ve only watched a few episodes of Enterprise. I need to fix that.

Not paying CBS a second time. Already pay for it as is. Oh, and there is a new Trek series in the works with Patrick Stewart. More Picard, but older and looks to be out of Star Fleet. That, I will pay for.

Those pictures of Killy are probably the best shots I’ve ever seen of STO.

Now imagine an alternate universe where Champions Online looked 1/2 that good. I know STO’s improved over time, but they started from the same place… Ah well.

Reader
Crowe

Nah, Champions was a throw-away game for them. Marvel did the right thing in pulling the license but MH was never my thing. I preferred the whole “create your own here” rather than “build a Marvel hero from a small template.”

@Fouille, I still find it hard to believe I spent over 900+ hours on that game since it was released till it was sunset. Time really flew by when I played that game.
