Finger guns and Vulcan ships target Star Trek Online’s ninth birthday

Pew pew! The noises by themselves aren’t enough; you need the full finger gun action to really make an impression on everyone else. It’s a mark of bravado and authority in Star Trek’s universe, or so the Chris Pine movies tell us.

Soon you’ll be able to act just as immature as an alternative universe Kirk would, thanks to finger gun emotes coming with Star Trek Online’s ninth anniversary. Actually, there’s a lot to be gained from this event, from a Tier 6 Vulcan scout ship to Omega upgrade kits to a Discovery-era party horn.

The anniversary celebrations are kicking off on January 23rd and will run through February 11th. You’ll have to do a little work to get some of these prizes, but a free Tier 6 ship doesn’t come around that often, so make sure to take advantage of this opportunity!

Don’t forget there are a few giveaways leading up to the anniversary. Nothing huge, but like was said in another comment, free stuff!

This one for 2 dilithium mining claims should be going for at least the next two hours (not sure if they have new ones on the weekend or if the next is Monday).

Oh come on, that’s supposed to be when he’s still in training in the academy.

You want an example from old Trek shows and the academy, just look at Finnegan. Tell me how that sets a better example than Abrams’ universe?

To be honest I find this year’s anniversary rewards a bit inferior compared to other years but cant complain for free things

My Vulcan Captain will find obtaining the scout ship to be a logical course of action.

I expect I’ll be there for the party — but I can bring my own finger guns. :-)

For those who are wondering about the WTF? emote and party horn — Star Trek Online devs have a long history of including humorous emotes and “party favor” toys alongside the more familiar action-adventure themed stuff. The tradition dates back to the earliest days of the game.
