Atlas hackers strike again with the return of the dreaded air whale

Caw! Polly is no longer the apex predator!

It’s raining whales! What the heck, it’s now raining whales?! Hoist sails! That’s the ancient sea shanty players of Atlas were learning to sing when another round of hacking struck the game amidships not long after it had already been forced to roll servers back in the wake of a compromised admin account. And yes, among the hacking mess caused in the game was a rain of whales from the sky, forcing another shutdown and investigation.

The worlds were rolled back by about three hours and were officially stated to be a “technical exploit” with no further details. Players were also reassured that no admin accounts were compromised in this particular wave and multiple accounts were already banned as a consequence for this round of hacking, but it still begs the question about the game’s overall security under the circumstances. Here’s hoping that this is the last time the majestic whale takes to the skies.

Kind of want to see more hackers in this. It’s funny to watch.

Flying whales, space whales, MMO whales, really the only question remaining is when do we get the battle whales?

Man, while EVE is fascinating to watch for all the political intrigue, sabotage, and thievery, this fascinating to watch in the same way that someone throwing another tire on the dumpster fire is.

It’s one of the few games where I actively root for hackers.

I can’t wait to see what other puns await us the next time this happens. At the least I’m hoping that the title here was a Princess Bride pun.

In that regard, I hope to see more of the flying whale. On the side of the people playing, I hope not to see that.

This is pretty much going to go on forever and will get exceptionally worse when the game starts to go on sale like it did with ARK. Wildcard is entirely incompetent at fixing the game engine issues and the hacking issues in their game. All they got is reactionary bans and they can’t roll back servers constantly because it negatively impacts too many other people.

When they were directly questioned about the people hacking/hackers they not only refused to comment on it but they outright started moderating words/phrases out of twitch chat to avoid it entirely.

You have to try to be incompetent…do they even try?

I was going to, but since Schlag already did it better I won’t need to.

Oh, man. I had totally forgotten about that guy. He was like the Iraqi White House Press Secretary.

Yeah, I loved that guy. Luckily, there’s still a Baghdad Bob meme generator out there. Must… resist… replying to all with new memes to my office guideline emails…

“Here’s hoping that this is the last time the majestic whale takes to the skies.”

Why? They are making the game better than it is.
