Gamigo is reversing last week’s ArcheAge unicorn mount stealth-normalization

Last week, we covered the mess over ArcheAge’s unicorn mounts, which had been patched and speed-normalized without notice, leaving players angry over what they characterized as a bait-and-switch. As it turns out, the mounts weren’t supposed to have had their high speed in the first place.

“The Korean version of the mount was inadvertently included in the NA/EU version,” Gamigo explains. “Historically, mounts that have been available through the marketplace in some form have had normalized speeds. The inclusion of the non-normalized version of the mount was unintended and was correctly normalized to the current standard during the 5.1 update. We are working with the XL team directly to ease concerns of players that obtained the mount while it was unadjusted, and will provide further information about the path forward once it is established.”

Today, Gamigo says it’s reached the conclusion that the best way forward is not compensation and refunds for affected players but a return to the originally announced and sold high speed. Wheee!

“Regarding the Unicorn mounts – we will have an update coming as soon as possible that will be setting their speed back to the original speed that they were released at. This change is currently being tested by both the Gamigo US team, as well as the XL team, and once we have confirmed that it is correct, we will be releasing this update.”

Enjoy your speedy unicorns, folks!
