Sea of Thieves tackles crossplay and toxicity in latest dev update

You might be a pirate in Sea of Thieves, but that doesn’t excuse any dastardly behavior shown to other players. According to this week’s developer update video, Rare said that is coming down hard on those who discriminate against or display toxic attitudes toward others.

“When we see excuses or people going, ‘Oh well, this happens in other games,’ that’s nonsense,” said Lead Developer Joe Neate. “That is not an acceptable excuse. Be better!”

Another hot-button issue that Rare is discussing is that of crossplay — more specifically, giving players the options not to cross the boundary between console and PC in order to provide a more level playing field in PvP. Eventually, players will have the option to disable crossplay in the upcoming arena setting as well as the choice to use mouse-and-keyboard on console.
